The 2022 edition of the Long Range Speed competition, held on June 10 thru 12 in Poland, saw the German shooter Stephan Drug win the gold medal with a 6.5 Creedmoor Sabatti Tactical EVO bolt-action rifle in factory configuration: a great exploit for a rifle platform whose global popularity is steadily on the rise!

Poland is at the forefront in Europe in terms of gun ownership and shooting sports; it's no case if Poland, and more specifically the town of Jawor, was chosen on June 10 thru 12 to host the Long Range Speed 2022 competition, a BDS Long Range Sport Group event, which is unique in the field of long-range shooting sports for its mix of precision and speed, essentially making it a mix between long range shooting and IPSC.

The Long Range Speed competition is comprised of two stages, each specifically conceived to put the shooters' talents to the test in terms of both shot placement and speed.

In the first stage, a group of five targets is placed at 300 meters (328 yd); each target must be hit five times, each one faster than the previous: the time limit is set at 120 seconds for the first target, 90 seconds for the second target, 60 seconds for the third target, 40 seconds for the fourth target, and 30 seconds for the last target.

For the second stage, four separate targets are placed at 600 meters (656 yds approx.), each to be hit with five rounds in 120, 90, 60 and 40 seconds respectively.

Quite a challenging event, which saw German shooter Stephan Drüg come out on top out of more than twenty competitors, with a final score of 397,04 points (227 out of 250 at 300 meters, 170 out of 200 at 600 meters), using a Sabatti Tactical EVO bolt-action rifle chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor.

What's really outstanding of Stephan Drüg's performance is that this was his first competition on a 600-meters range, in hot conditions – 28 to 30 degrees centigrade, with a persistent wind and glare all through the two days – which highlight the levels of inherent precision of the rifle he used to obtain such consistent levels of accuracy just right Out of the Box.

And this is exactly the best part of the story: because the Sabatti Tactical EVO rifle used by Stephan Drüg to win the competition is a standard production rifle, without any bedding or pillar on the stock.

The otucome of the Long Range Speed 2022 event highlight the stellar levels that the Sabatti rifles and their MRR multi-radial rifled barrels can achieve, more often than not outshooting and outclassing the competition – even when it comes with better known international brands.

Once again, Sabatti's home-brew Italian excellence proves its worth, and the results of the 2022 Long Range Speed event show why Sabatti's rifles are becoming increasingly popular worldwide.
