First showcased at IWA OutdoorClassics 2025, the OPOS Venator 9mm Luger semi-automatic pistol prototype aims at becoming the most direct competitor to the famous Laugo Arms "Alien" via a mix of familiar features and remarkable innovation.

The OPOS Venator is a practical shooting competition pistol that feeds through double-stack 18-rounds magazines inspired in design to the Beretta 92-series magazines; the first innovative take on an otherwise familiar design found in the OPOS Venator is the locking system – a rotary barrel with a standard return spring and guide rod, but inverted in position, so that the barrel is actually located within the frame rather than above it, for a low bore axis.

Just like the Laugo Alien, the OPOS Venator features a lightened top slide, allowing iron sights or micro red dot sights to be installed in a fixed position that won't reciprocate as the gun cycles. On top of that, the OPOS Venator may become the first commercially-available firearm to integrate electronics in form of a small digital display at the rear of the slide that will provide a count of how many rounds remain in the magazines, how many rounds have been fired overall through the pistol, a cocking status indicator and a temperature gauge.

The OPOS Venator is still in development phase. More information will become available as the Venator inches close to official launch.
