Beretta 80X Cheetah, the return of the classic .380 ACP pistol
SHOT Show 2023 – Beretta’s legendary Cheetah series of .380 ACP pistols lives again with the new 80X model, integrating the best and most advanced features of the 92X Performance
The Beretta 80X Cheetah .380 ACP semi-automatic pistol debuts at the 2023 edition of SHOT Show and revives Beretta’s line of “Cheetah” semi-compact blowback-operated .380 ACP pistols that was so wildly popular in the 1980s. It was sensible of the company to debut this pistol on the US market, where CCW is more widely spread than in Europe and where the wide availability of defense-oriented expanding ammunition makes .380 ACP still a viable choice for personal protection.
The new Beretta 80X Cheetah retains the general lines and working system of the original Beretta 84, albeit with many of the best features of the more recent, and likewise very successful, Beretta 92X Performance design, such as a Vertec-type high grip, a 92X-type trigger guard and railed frame, Beretta 92X Performance’s Xtreme S improved SA/DA trigger with ambidextrous frame-mounted safety, and front and rear slide serrations that make the 80X easier to rack than the original.
The Beretta 80X Cheetah comes with a fixed front sight and a rear sight that’s built-in on the protective plate for the optics-ready slide interface, which can easily be removed to allow the use of micro red dot sights. Double-stack 10-rounds and 13-rounds magazines are available. A Beretta 80X Cheetah Bronze version also exists, featuring a burnt bronze Cerakote finish on the frame. MSRP on the US market is set at $799.99 for the black version and $999.00 for the Bronze version.
