Sightmark Solitude 10x42, the all-around binocular
The Sightmark Solitude 10×42 is a perfect all-around companion for hunters, sport shooters, boating and outdoor enthusiasts: a sturdily built, highly performing, affordable binocular for all utility purposes
It’s a fact: hunters, sport shooters and others such as boating enthusiasts, bird-watchers, and outdoor enthusiasts need reliable, dependable long distance observation instruments.
And it’s also a fact that many of them – if not most of them – would really like to be able to boast the best of the best at the range or on the field: deep in our hearts, we all dream of the Leupold, Swarovski, and Zeiss products.
But – last, not least! – is also a fact that not all of us can afford such top-brand products. As a matter of fact, most users don’t need that kind of product, with that level of performance… and price.
A vast majority of users “just” need a good performing binocular that will not fail them, that’s durable, precise, and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. And even those who can pay the price for a top-level product will always need a reliable spare to keep handy for any emergency.
That’s the where the Sightmark brand steps in, with their Sightmark Solitude 10×42 binocular: a simple, rugged, reliable and economically affordable product for all purposes.
Built on a lightweight, rubber-armored, Nitrogen-purged single-hinge body, the Sightmark Solitude 10×42 binocular features a high refraction BaK-4 roof prism that provides a high level of light transmission while at the same time keeping overall dimensions compact – we are talking about 12,5 cm or 4.92” in length and 5,1 cm / 2” in width for an overall weight of approximately 754 grams (26.8 oz.).
All optical elements, including the prism and the optical glass objective and eyepiece lenses, are coated; the lenses, specifically, are fully multi-coated for higher light transmission and resistance to dirt and scratches. Given the fixed magnification factor, the Sightmark Solitude 10×42 binocular is extremely simple to operate: a focus dial is located at the center, right behind the bridge, while the diopter system dial is located on the right eyepiece.
With its 101 m @ 1 km (304 ft @ 1000yd) field of view and minimum focus distance of barely 4 meters (13.12 ft), the Sightmark Solitude can easily transition between relatively close and extremely distant objects without losing focus.
The 18,4 mm / 0.72” eye relief, 4,2 mm exit pupil, and twilight factor of 20.42 make the Solitude 10×42 not only extremely comfortable to use – with very little to no effort to find the optimal distance between the user’s eye and the eyepiece for an optimal view – but also exceptionally well performing in terms of image clarity in low light conditions, at dusk or dawn.
The Sightmark Solitude 10×42 binocular comes issued from factory with a carry strap, a carry pouch, a set of rubberized lens and eyepiece protectors, and a chest harness, providing multiple options for hands-free carry and additional piece of mind on even the roughest terrains.
Additionally, the Solitude 10×42 is IP67 certified fogproof, dustproof and waterproof, and will operate reliably at extreme temperatures, ranging between -17°C e i +49°C (0 to 120 °F), meaning that it can very well withstand what a vast majority of sportsmen and outdoorsmen can throw at it and come out on top, maybe with some little scratch on the body, but no significant damage to the optical system or overall integrity.
