CZ introduces the new BREN 3 assault weapon system
CZ - Česká Zbrojovka expands its line of military and professional products at the 2024 edition of Eurosatory, in Paris, with the launch of CZ BREN 3 assault rifle: a modular weapon system, a direct evolution and improvement over the BREN 2, so far available only in 5.56x45mm NATO and .300 AAC "Blackout" but still more than ever in line with the ergonomic and functional canons of what a 21st Century service rifle would need to be.
Built on a 7075-T6 lightweight aluminum alloy receiver with a large number of polymer parts, the CZ BREN 3 rifle is available in four barrel lengths in 5.56x45mm NATO (7-inch, 11-inch, 14.5-inch and 16.5-inch) and three barrel lengths in .300 Blackout (7-inch and 9-inch).
The CZ BREN 3 assault rifle system is completely ambidextrous; a non-reciprocating charging handle, usable as a forward assist, with one side fixed and one foldable, interchangeable, is located from factory on both sides; a 45-degrees safety/selector switch and magazine release catch is also located on both sides, and in addition to an AR-15 style hold open release button located on the left side, the BREN 3 features an additional hold open device within the trigger guard.

The CZ BREN 3 is a short-stroke, piston-driven platform, with a multi-lug rotating bolt and a double ejector on the bolt carrier group to improve reliability. The gas key features a front valve that can be adjusted on three positions to improve reliability and performance with different types of loads and when using sound suppressors.
Additionally, the CZ BREN 3 is completely ambidextrous: the factory folding and extendable buttstock can be easily replaceable with a fully collapsbile PDW-style stock; grip backstraps are also interchangeable, and so are the machined aluminum handguards, with Picatinny rails and M-LOK slots, available in nine variants.
Barrels themselves are easily replaced to reconfigure the BREN 3 depending from the current operational needs (and potentially for caliber conversion). Seven QD sling swivel slots are located all around the rifle, and a full-length top MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail allows the installation of any kind of optics or back-up iron sights.

Finally, the CZ BREN 3 features one of the best triggers in the world of modern assault rifles – 25 Newton or 2,5 kg of pull, with a smooth and short 7mm traver and 4mm reset – and is compatible with a wide array of under-barrel grenade launchers with a Picatinny rail attachment interface, including the CZ-805 G1 and with the new, purpose-developed CZ GL, introduced at Eurosatory along with the BREN 3.
Chambered for NATO standard 40mm low-velocity grenades (40x46mm SR), the new CZ GL grenade launcher is extremely short, weighs in at merely 1,16 kg / 2.55 lbs (2,25 kg or 4.96 lbs with its dedicated grip/stock assembly for standalone use), and features a double-action only 5 kg / 11 lbs trigger, a 60-degrees flip-down safety, and a 163 mm / 6.5" "Hybrid Double Layered" barrel composed of a monolithic aluminum assembly and polymer.
No information concerning semi-automatic versions of the BREN 3 system for civilian sales has been released yet.
