First introduced in back March at the 2024 edition of IWA OutdoorClassics in Nuremberg (Germany), the Pulsar Merger LRF XP35 thermal imaging binoculars with integrated laser rangefinder is finally available. Conceived mainly for hunting purposes, the LRF XP35 is the smallest and lightest entry in Pulsar's Merger line, but you really couldn't tell its levels of features and performance by the size.

 

Powered by a double-battery system – comprised of an embedded 4Ah battery and a replaceable 3.2Ah battery with an embossed body for tactile confirmation to facilitate replacement in the dark – the new Pulsar Merger LRF XP35 offers up to nine hours of continuous runtime.

 

At the same time, thanks to the 35 mm objective, the device boasts a field of view exceeding 17° at 100 meters (109.3 yards), the widest in its category, making detection of heat sources easier, improving situational awareness and mitigating the effects of image instability.

 

Entirely manufactured in Europe around a magnesium alloy chassis, the Pulsar Merger LRF XP35 binoculars integrate a highly sensitive, high-resolution 640x480p sensor with <25 mK NETD and a 1.350 m (1,476 yds) range, capable of detecting even the smallest variation in temperature in low-contrast conditions such as rain or fog, improving target detection reliability and a high quality visualization of important physical features on the target and details in the surrounding environment.

Both the thermal sensor and the embedded laser rangefinder are controlled by a set of rubberized buttons located on top of the device. The rangefinder has a 1 kilometer (1093 yd) range, while the sensitivity of the thermal sensor can be set on three different levels.

 

Images are projected on a high-resolution AMOLED display, offering clear images, high contrast, and a palette of eight colors selectable to improve visibility depending on the type of target and environmental conditions.

The Pulsar Merger LRF XP35 also features an embedded recorder that can take pictures and record videos at 1024x768p resolution, saving them on a 16gb memory card accessible via the dedicated Pulsar Stream Vision 2 mobile application for Apple and Android devices for wireless cloud storage or sharing.

 

Standing at 16,5 cm (6.5 inch approx.) in overall length and weighing in at 830 grams (29.2 oz) with batteries, the Pulsar Merger LRF XP35 is IPX-7 certified for water and dust resistance, can operate at a temperature range between -25°C and +50°C (-13 to 122 °F), and with its finely settable eye relief it can be adjusted for all users.

 

Last, the Pulsar Merger LRF XP35 features a proximity sensor that deactivates the AMOLED display illumination when the user takes his/her eyes away from the eyepieces, in order to prevent the light from the display from making the user detectable by animals nearby.
