The new Glock G45 MOS pistol
Glock introduced the new G45 MOS pistol, further expanding its crossover handguns line with a much-awaited optics-ready entry
The Glock 45 (or G45 for short) was among the many new pistols introduced by the Austrian company in late 2018: a derivative of the Glock 19X, the G45 is a Gen.5 “Crossover” pistol – sporting the concealed carry-friendly overall length of the Glock 19 and the comfortable grip and high capacity of the Glock 17.
At the 2019 edition of the NRA Annual Meeting & Exhibits Glock officially introduced the latest entry in their Crossover pistols line: the Glock G45 MOS semi-automatic pistol is an optics-ready version of the Glock 45, coming fit from factory to use some of the most popular micro red-dot or reflex sights currently available on the market.
The Glock G45 MOS retains the main features of the baseline G45 and of all Gen.5 Glock pistols in general: a G19-sized railed polymer frame with a G17-sized RTF pistol grip offering no finger grooves and a flared magazine well for quicker reload, as well as a set of four interchangeable backstraps in two different sizes – with or without a beavertail extension – adding respectively 2mm/0.08” and 4mm/0.16” to the overall grip dimensions.
The G45 MOS also features a reversible magazine release catch, a factory ambidextrous slide stop release lever, and a matte black nDLC diamond-like carbon coating on both the slide and barrel, obtained by Plasma-Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) for additional resistance to wear, scratches, and aggressive chemicals or environmental elements.
The slide of the Glock G45 MOS also features front and rear slide serrations to adapt to various handling techniques; a chamfered front portion for easier holstering; and a new visible and palpable loaded chamber indicator integrated as a part of the extractor to show whether there is a cartridge in the chamber.
Most importantly, the Glock G45 MOS comes with the Company’s own, patented Modular Optic System – a modular optics interface machined on the slide right in front of the rear sight, protected by a metal plate and allowing the use of four interchangeable mounting plates accepting popular micro-red dot or reflex sight models from EOTech, Docter, Insight, Meopta, Trijicon, C-More and Leupold.
The Glock G45 MOS feeds through standard double-stack Glock magazines holding 17 rounds of 9mm Luger ammunition; +2 rounds extensions are available.
The G45 MOS is 189 mm / 7.44” long overall and features a 102 mm / 4” Glock Marksman Barrel (GMB) with its signature redesigned polygon rifling for increased accuracy.
Overall weight ranges between 616 grams (21.73 oz) empty and 860 grams (30.34 oz) with a loaded magazine. Nothing changes in the standard Glock Safe Action trigger with a 26N pull.
