Study on the myth of projectile effects: seeking individuals with gunshot wounds

There are many myths surrounding the topic of projectile effects. While in movies, people who are hit always fall down immediately, the reality is completely different. Many people who are hit do not even notice they have been struck at first.

However, the scientific data on this subject is not very extensive.

Study on the myth of projectile effects: seeking individuals with gunshot wounds

Therefore, renowned ballistics expert Dr. Beat Kneubuehl, author of various standard works on the subject of wound ballistics, is seeking individuals (soldiers, police officers, hunters, sport shooters, etc.) for a scientific study who have sustained a gunshot wound or have been struck by a bullet while wearing a ballistic vest and are willing to provide information about their perception of the event.

The following questions are of particular interest:

  • How was the impact perceived?

  • Where was the point of impact?

  • Was there an immediate physical reaction (falling, taking cover, etc.)?

  • When did the sensation of pain begin?

  • How long was the ability to act maintained?

The results will be recorded completely anonymously.
