Glock announces the new G45, G17 and G19 Gen5 MOS pistols
The well-known Austrian company announced three new pistols to be made available in October: the crossover Glock 40, patterned after the popular Glock 17X, and the Glock 17 and Glock 19 Gen.5 pistols with front slide serrations and MOS Modular Optic System
Glock expands its already vast and popular line of striker-fired, polymer frame pistol: the brand by whose standards all others are judged just announced the launch of three new handguns, including an outstanding "Crossover" variant, all in 9x19mm and all offering high capacity and high performance.
Glock 45: the Crossover
The Glock 45 is the latest outstanding addition to the Glock pistols line. Utilizing the design and engineering developed for the Glock 19X – the Austrian company's submission to the U.S. Army's Modular Handgun System program trial – combined with professional specifications submitted by end users worldwide, the Glock 45 in 9x19 mm is a crossover design combining the fast handling and cycling of a Glock 19 -sized slide with the grip size of a Glock 17 Gen5. Both upper and lower assemblies have received subtle enhancements which distinctly improve performance.
The slide of the new Glock 45 features a non-reflective black nDLC hard-surface finish and forward serrations precision-milled near the front, just in front of the ejection port on both sides. The frame is also a subdued black, with a flared magazine well which completely encircles the front of the grip allowing fast reloads to be performed rapidly and efficiently even in critical situations.
The Glock 45 incorporates other elements of the Gen5 Glock pistols, including a smoother trigger pull, an enhanced texture on the grip – now lacking finger grooves – for a secure grip in all conditions, an ambidextrous slide stop lever and reversible magazine catch, and the MBS modular-interchangeable backstrap system allowing individual adjustability. Also featured is the GMB Glock Marksman Barrel, providing superior accuracy over the previous Glock polygon-rifled barrel.
Distribution of the Glock 45 is set to start in October 2018, but information about availability and pricing for each Country should be requested to your local Glock distributor.
The new Glock 17 and Glock 19 Gen.5 MOS
Back in 2015, Glock first introduced its MOS line of pistols, featuring the company's patented Modular Optics System – a modular, adaptable interface factory-machined on the rear portion of the slide, just in front of the rear sight, to provide a fast and secure attachment point for some of the most popular micro-reflex and red dot sights currently available on the market.
The MOS line of pistols quickly gained a cult status among sport shooters, military and law enforcement professionals, and gun owners at large worldwide. Many of the latest entries in the line now also offer front slide serrations for easier handling when an optical sight is on.
Among those are the Glock 17 and Glock 19 Gen5 MOS, announced today and joining the Glock 34 as the additions to the MOS line of pistols for 2018. The new G17 and G19 Gen5 MOS pistols offer all the popular features of the line – including a non-reflective black, protective nDLC finish on all metal surfaces and the accurate Glock Marksman Barrel, an improved version of the Glock's quintessential polygon rifling.
The Glock 17 and Glock 19 Gen5 MOS pistols do without the finger grooves on the grip, replaced by an aggressive wraparound slip-proof texture and a set of interchangeable backstraps. Just like the Glock 45, both the Glock 17 and the Glock 19 Gen5 MOS bear an official launch date of October 2018, with no clear indication of when they will actually hit retailers in individual countries.
