Savage Arms introduces the Stevens 555 Sporting over-under shotgun
Savage Arms announces the launch of the new 555 Sporting over-under shotgun, the latest to be introduced under the historical Stevens brand and a great option for Trap and other clay shooting specialties
The Savage Arms company – one of America's biggest manufacturers of hunting and sporting firearms, as well as the owner of the historical Stevens brand – announced the expansion of the highly acclaimed Stevens 555 line of shotguns with the launch of the Stevens 555 Sporting 12-gauge over-under shotgun.
Built for Savage Arms by the KOFS company of Turkey, the Stevens 555 Sporting has been specifically conceived to represent an economically affordable market alternative for shooters who want to have a shot at clay shooting competitions – Trap and Sporting specialties, specifically – with a shooting machine that will prove accurate and reliable without getting close to the price tags of the most highly regarded European and American clay breakers.
The Savage Arms Stevens 555 Sporting over-under shotgun is built around a lightweight aluminum alloy silver receiver and features a set of 76,2 cm / 30" long chrome-lined, carbon steel semi matte black compensated barrels with an interchangeable choke system; five chokes (F, IM, M, IC, C) are issued with each Stevens 555 Sporting.
The new 555 also features a raised, ventilated rib with a mid-bead rear sight and fiber-optic front sight.
Chambered for 76mm / 3" 12-gauge shotshells, the new Stevens 555 Sporting shotgun from Savage Arms sports a selective single trigger, a manual extractor, and a top-tang sliding safety located just behind the break-open key – placing both at easy and quick thumb reach for both right-handed and left-handed shooters.
The Stevens 555 Sporting over-under shotgun is 123 cm / 48.5" long overall, weighs in at 3,1 kilograms (6.84 lbs) when empty, and features an oil-finished, Turkish walnut stock and handguard with checkered contact surfaces. The stock has a length of pull of 14.57" (37 cm); other features include an adjustable cheek riser and a sturdy rubberized recoil pad.
The Savage Arms Stevens 555 Sporting over-under shotgun is currently available on the US commercial market at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $991.00; no information concerning export availability or pricing has been released so far.
