Browning introduces the Maxus 2 Composite Black hunting shotgun
Browning's new Maxus 2 Composite Black semi-automatic hunting shotgun is built to handle 12-gauge, 3.5" shells to meet the requirements for success in the most demanding hunting situations
The Browning Maxus 2 Composite Black 12 gauge semi-automatic hunting shotgun is one of Browning International's latest new entries in the field of hunting shotguns, engineered to meet the need of waterfowlers and big game hunting enthusiasts.
The Composite Black is part of Browning's Maxus 2 line, first introduced in early 2021 as a complete restyling of the Maxus series, offering features such as a redesigned aluminum receiver, a Nickel-Teflon coating on all controls and other key components – particularly the bolt and the cartridge elevator – plus other improvements, including the Speed Load Plus quick-loading system that allows the first shell in the magazine tube to be fed directly to chamber when the bolt is held in the open position.
The Browning Maxus 2 Composite Black 12-gauge semi-automatic hunting shotgun features an 89mm / 3.5" chamber, and is built to chamber and fire the high-power, long-range, high-recoil ammunition that's particularly appreciated – and in some cases, absolutely essential – for those hunting situations where an extra push or extra stopping power are necessary, such as waterfowling.
The Browning Maxus 2 Composite Black 12-gauge semi-automatic hunting shotgun is available in two barrel lengths – 71 cm / 28" or 76 cm / 30" – and with a two- or four-rounds magazine capacity (plus a shell in chamber). A gas-operated shotgun, the Browning Maxus 2 Composite Black features Browning's own, reliable Power Drive working system, and weighs in approximately at 3,6 kg / 7.93 oz. in total.
The Browning Maxus 2 Composite Black owes its name to the full matte black finish coating all metal surfaces, and the black metal polymer used in the manufacture of the handguard and stock. The handguard itself is oversized – just like the charging handle, the disconnector button and other controls – to make handling easier even should the user be wearing gloves; the buttstock features an Inflex II rubberized, recoil-absorbing buttpad and a Reactar gel-filled cheekpiece, both must-have features in order to handle the heavy recoil of 12-gauge 3.5" shotshells.
All Browning Maxus 2 Composite Black shotguns come with Back Bored Vector Pro barrels, which feature a longer forcing cone and are generally overbored to improve controllability and accuracy by reducing both recoil and pattern size.
The Maxus 2 Composite Black also features a 6mm full-length ventilated barrel rib with a fiber-optic front sight, and Browning's own Invector choke system. Five chokes – ¼, ½, ¾, Full , ½+5cm – and a dedicated choke key are issued with each shotgun.
The Browning Maxus 2 Composite Black semi-automatic hunting shotgun is sold in an ABS case; factory-issued accessories include two 7 mm and 12 mm stock spacers; five shims; two sling swivels; and a three-digit trigger lock for safe storage and transportation.
