First introduced as the SIG516 "Mohawk" in June of 2025 and rebranded as the SIG516 G3 in early 2026 without any significant modification of sort, SIG Sauer's new AR-15 based rifle is now available for civilian and law enforcement sales in yet another variant that aims at establishing new industries standards in terms of reliability, performance, user-friendly features, and rugged construction.
The SIG Sauer SIG516 G3 Bronze 5.56x45mm NATO semi-automatic rifle blends all the SIG Sauer improvements to the original AR-15 design with a full burnt bronze Cerakote finish on all outer metal surfaces – a touch of astonishing aesthetic taste that makes the SIG516 G3 Bronze both visually stunning and unique, and gives it the edge in terms of durability under heavy use in adverse conditions and resistance against scratches, corrosion, aggressive environmental elements, and chemicals.

The SIG Sauer SIG516 G3 Bronze blends the tried and true AR-15 design to a new, SIG Sauer designed and manufactured short-stroke gas piston working system with a three-position gas valve that allows operators to finely tune their rifle for maximum reliability and performance in all conditions and with any kind of loads, including subsonic, as well as for the use of sound suppressors.
SIG Sauer's short stroke piston design allows the SIG516 G3 Bronze to run cleaner and cooler than most other piston-driven ARs and DGI rifles currently available on the market; steel-reinforced components in high-wear areas help reduce wear and tear and ensure a longer service life and better reliability.

The SIG Sauer SIG516 G3 Bronze rifle features a 406 mm / 16" cold-hammer forged barrel, with six right-handed grooves in a 1:7" twist rate and a SIG Sauer flash hider installed on a ½"x28 TPI thread at the muzzle.
The free-float handguard is CNC-machined out of lightweight aluminum alloy, and features a full-length top Picatinny rail for accessories and seven rows of M-LOK slots for maximum versatility in the installation of accessories.
The SIG516 G3 Bronze rifle features both an enhanced T-shaped standard AR-15 charging handle, and an additional SIG Sauer MCX-SPEAR style cocking handle located on the left side of the receiver – both non reciprocating. The safety, magazine release catch, and hold-open release lever are both ambidextrous.
A SIG Sauer Matchlite Duo curved-blade trigger ensures long-term durability with refined shootability. The SIG516 G3 Bronze rifle is compatible with any USGI a.k.a. STANAG 4179 magazine of any make, material and capacity, and features an enlarged trigger guard to facilitate shooting when wearing any type of gloves, including thick padded gloves for arctic use.
Other features of the SIG516 G3 Bronze rifle include a black polymer MagPul DT Carbine telescopic stock mounted on a MIL-SPEC buffer tube, and a black polymer low-curve ergonomic SIG Sauer pistol grip.
Standing between 88 and 93 centimeters (33" thru 36.5") in overall length depending on the position of the collapsible buttstock, and weighing in at 3,5 kilograms (7.7 lbs) in overall length, the SIG Sauer SIG516 G3 Bronze 5.56x45mm NATO semi-automatic rifle is sold on the US market at a suggested retail price of $2,299.00.
