The Ruger 10/22 Takedown carbine is built around a clear matte steel receiver and barrel, and features the standard Ruger 10/22 machined bolt and blowback system.
The Ruger 10/22 Takedown carbine barrel is 47 cm / 18.5” long and features an – oddly – non-threaded muzzle, a gold bead front sight and an adjustable rear sight. A combination scope base adapter is machined on the receiver for both Weaver-style scope mounts.
The trigger housing of the Ruger 10/22 Takedown carbine is manufactured as a single assembly, precision-manufactured out of heat-stabilized, glass-reinforced polymer for improved manufacturing tolerances and resistance to impact, abrasion and elements.
A positive push-button cross-bolt manual safety is located in front of the trigger, at easy and convenient index finger reach.
The Ruger 10/22 Takedown feeds through standard 10/22 factory or aftermarket magazines; an easy-to-use, prominent magazine release provides a smooth, no-fuss removal of flush-mounted magazines.
The 10/22 Takedown comes factory-issued with flush-fit Ruger BX10 magazines – holding up to ten rounds of .22 Long Rifle ammunition – but remains compatible with all higher capacity magazines.
The well-known rotary magazine design of the Ruger 10/22 features a patented rotor that separate cartridges to provide one of the most reliable feeding systems in rimfire rifles.
The two-parts stock of the Ruger 10/22 Takedown carbine is manufactured out of black synthetic, and features slip-proof checkered surfaces on the pistol grip and handguard, and a set of sling swivel attachment points.
A round takedown lever, protected by a hollow in the polymer, is located just in front of the magazine well.
The easy takedown system enables the barrel of the Ruger 10/22 Takedown carbine to be quickly separated from the action.
With the rifle unloaded – magazine out, chamber empty, bolt locked back – the user just needs to push the recessed lever, twist the two sub-assemblies and pulling them apart to strip the 10/22 Takedown carbine in two halves for convenient carry or storage.
Reassembly is just as easy and fast – basically the same sequence in reverse – and provides a secure connection of the barrel, returning the firearm to zero for consistent accuracy and requiring no re-adjustment of any receiver-mounted optical sight.
The Ruger 10/22 Takedown semi-automatic rimfire rifle is 93,9 cm / 37” long overall when fully assembled, and weighs 4.6 lbs unloaded.
