Glock .40 S&W Gen5 pistols
Glock just announced that the .40 caliber G22, G23 and G27 pistols are now also available in Gen5 versions, bringing the Company's quintessential American Law Enforcement service handguns to the latest generation – also coming in optics-ready MOS configurations
The Glock Gen5 series of handguns expands further with the addition of the Glock 22, Glock 23 and Glock 27 .40 Smith & Wesson caliber semi-automatic pistols to the lineup.
The Glock 22 Gen5 and Glock 23 Gen5 pistols are also available in optics-ready configurations, featuring Glock's proprietary MOS interface system on the slide to provide a rock solid mounting base for most of the vast majority of micro red dot sights currently available on the market.
The Glock .40-caliber pistols are widely recognized by the international shooters' community as the quintessential American law enforcement service pistol; .40 Smith & Wesson caliber intentively bridges the gap between 9mm and .45 ACP – not to mention the powerful 10mm Auto caliber it originated from – and was wholeheartedly adopted by law enforcement agencies all across the United States during the 1990s, remaining their caliber of choice for well over a decade.
While the heyday of .40 Smith & Wesson may be gone, the caliber still enjoys a good degree of popularity, and it's undeniable that the full-size Glock 22, the compact Glock 23 and the subcompact Glock 27 models pistols played an important role in cementing the Austrian company's fame as a solid service pistol provider for the law enforcement community, particularly in the United States.
These three new Gen5 models aim at consolidating the user's base of .40 Smith & Wesson Glock handguns (a somewhat dwindling base, as with all .40 caliber pistols) by implementing all the features that made the Gen5 series so popular in the past few years. All other key design points – including barrel length and magazine capacity – remain the same as in the previous generations, thus retaining the features that users worldwide are so familiar with.
The new Glock .40-caliber Gen5 pistols come with a full nDLC finish on the slide, a flared magazine well, the proven Glock Marksman Barrel, or GMB – an updated version of Glock's signature polygon rifling – and an ambidextrous slide stop lever, as well as front and rear slide serrations that enhance the tactile surface.
The Glock 22, Glock 23 and Glock 27 Gen5 pistols all feature Glock's MBS modular backstrap and beavertail system, as well as a reversible magazine catch. This allows them to accommodate both left- and right-handed operators, as well as shooters of any hand size.
The new Glock Gen5 .40 Smith & Wesson caliber pistols will be distributed internationally starting from October 2020. See your local Glock retailer or distributor for availability and pricing.
