Pro Ears Stealth Elite electronic ear buds
The Pro Ears Stealth Elite electronic ear buds are a lightweight, compact and versatile new solution for hearing protection, offering state-of-the-art technical features for hunters, shooters and sportsmen – at a competitive price
The Altus Brands company is focused on manufacturing and marketing products dedicated to hunters and sport shooters, like the Pro Ears line of hearing protection devices.
And it's under the Pro Ears brand that the Altus Brands group recently introduced one of the most advanced hearing protection devices specifically developed for commercial sales and offered on the international civilian market to hunters, sport shooters, private security operators, industrial workers, and outdoor enthusiasts: the Pro Ears Stealth Elite electronic ear buds.
The development of the Pro Ears Stealth Elite electronic ear buds was funded through a Kickstarter campaign in 2019; commercial distribution kicked off in the US in August 2020.
The Pro Ears Stealth Pro electronic ear buds are the first in their field to integrate a hybrid analog/digital circuitry system, which returns a more clear natural sound if comared with competing products based on digital circuitry only.
The Pro Ears Stealth Pro ear buds offer a 28 dB Noise Reduction Rating, and can operate on three different modes, easily selectable through a cursor switch located on each earbud: selecting position 0 will turn the device completely off, entering Isolation mode: most noise input from the outside world is cut right out, immersing the user in a quiet atmosphere perfect for study, concentration, or rest.
Position I will instead turn on Awareness mode, which will drastically muffle loud noises while transmitting normal environment noise at their natural level: a perfect mode for those activities that require high levels of situational awareness, such as industrial uses, sport activities, target shooting at the range, or security work in areas open to public eg. disco halls.
Last, position II on the switch will activate Amplification mode; this will still muffle loud noises, but will on the other hand amplify quieter sounds by a 5x factor, providing an even increased awareness of one's surroundings. The Amplification mode was conceived specifically for hunters, who will need to protect their hearing from gunshots and other loud noises while at the same time needing to perceive, and rapidly respond to, all the tell-tale signs of a prey nearby.
Each Stealth Elite ear bud is independently powered by a small #10 battery, commercially available mostly everywhere in the world, hosted in an easily accessible compartment on top. According to Altus Brands, a battery should provide up to eighty hours of continuous use; four batteries are issued with each pair of Stealth Elite ear buds.
A proprietary DLSC hi/low compression technology allows the Pro Ears Stealth Elite electronic ear buds to return a clear sound while at the same time providing a snap-fast reaction time when it comes to muffling harmfully high noises.
Our tests have shown that while all use modes are perfect for target shooting, either indoors or outdoors, the Amplification mode is where the Pro Ears Stealth Elite really give their best, making it possible to entertain a normal conversation even in an extremely loud environment, keeping every word perfectly intelligible while at the same time safeguarding your hearing from dangerous levels of noise.
The Pro Ears Stealth Elite electronic ear buds are totally adaptable: each pair is sold with four pairs of foam tips, three pairs of silicon tips and three pairs of earhooks, ranging from XS to L in size, allowing the users to select the best combination that will fit their specific ear size and remain comfortable to use.
Each pair of Pro Ears Stealth elite electronic ear buds comes issued with a rope neckcord and an additional braided, no-tangle rope lanyard hosting a Bluetooth 5 microphone that attaches to the ear buds via MMCX ports and can be coupled to any portable device, allowing the user to make and receive phone calls, listen to music, watch videos or other multimedia content even in high or very high environmental noise levels.
The microphone also features a noise isolation technology, making it possible to remain intelligible during phone calls even when the surrounding noise levels are sustained. Operation and navigation buttons on the microphone are big and spaced apart enough to remain easy to use when wearing shooting or protective gloves.
The Bluetooth microphone is powered by its own internal battery and is recharged via a USB port. The battery will fully charge in about two hours, providing approximately five hours of continuous runtime. The Bluetooth connection of the microphone has a maximum range of approximately 10 meters (10,9 yards).
Each pair of Pro Ears Stealth Elite electronic ear buds ships with its own zippered synthetic pocket carry case, allowing the user to have all the necessary accessories – microphone, USB recharging cable, spare tips and batteries – always ready to get the best out of the system even for prolonged use situations such as a hunting trip.
Such an unprecedented level of versatility should be instrumental in making this hearing protection system appealing to those users – such as hunters, particularly in Europe – that have always shied away from using this type of accessory even when they sorely needed them, and that are understanding their importance only now (we personally know many older hunters who suffer from tinnitus!), albeit still being kept back from whole-hearted adoption by considerations such as comfort of use, unobstrusiveness, and situational awareness.
The Pro Ears Stealth Elite electronic ear buds are IPX7 certified for resistance against water and elements, and are already available in the United States at a suggested retail price of $159.99 through the Company's own website or on Amazon.
In Europe the Pro Ears Stealth Elite are available through the German distributor Ferkinghoff International.
