FN Reflex micro compact pistol
FN America introduces the FN Reflex micro-compact concealed carry pistol, sporting a staggering-for-size 11 or 15 rounds capacity and available in a versatile optics-ready version
Following Governor Ron DeSantis' signature of HB 543 back on April 3rd, Florida has become the 26th US State out of 50 to adopt Constitutional Carry, meaning that any citizen that is not legally forbidden from purchasing and owning firearms will no longer need a license to carry a concealed weapon for personal defense.
With the US market, by far the biggest market for defensive pistols in the world, becoming even bigger, FN America – the north American subsidiary of the Belgian FN Herstal group – aims at gaining a top relevance role in the not-so-small niche of sub-compact and micro-compact handguns, and that's what led to the launch of the new FN Reflex 9mm Luger micro-compact semi-automatic pistol.
Officially debuted on April 12th, 2023, as a replacement for the single-stack FN 503 launched back in 2020, the new FN Reflex is a diminutive double-stack, polymer-frame pistol feeding through 11-rounds or 15-rounds magazines – not an insignificant feat for the size.
The FN Reflex pistol is available in black or flat dark earth versions, with a wear-resistant PVD finish on metal surfaces, and in standard or MRD variants – this last one featuring an optics-ready interface milled on to the slide, ahead of the rear sight and behind the ejection window; size and weight are its claim to fame, standing in at 15,7 cm / 6.2" in length, 108 mm / 4.27" in height and just 2,5 cm / 1" in width for effortless, printless carry, the new FN Reflex weighs in at just 521 grams (18.4 oz) when empty.
The 8,38 cm / 3.3" barrel with its 1:10" twist rate is cold-hammer forged and features a Target type crown for accuracy and a highly polished chamber and ramp to ensure feed reliability.
Despite the looks, the FN Reflex is not a striker-fired, but rather an internal hammer-fired, single-action only design with no manual safety and a "best-in-class" 2/2,5 kg (4.5-5.5lb.) trigger pull.
The polymer frame features a short, slimline Picatinny rail for tactical accessories, a reversible magazine release catch, and an in-mold stippled grip for a secure hold in all conditions. Advanced ergonomics provide excellent control and shootability for such a small handgun.
The machined steel slide features a set of front and rear slide serrations, offers a low racking force for women and smaller-handed shooters, and hosts two-dot rear sight and a front night sight with tritium insert and high visibility orange circle for low light sight acquisition.
The FN Reflex MRD pistols are cut for Shield RMSc and Holosun K-series footprint sights, and come issued with screws for MRD installation.
As of now, the FN Reflex is available on the US commercial, law enforcement and military markets at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $599.00 for the standard variants and $659.00 for the optics-ready variants. No information concerning export availability or pricing has been released yet.
