Johann Fanzoj Gunmaker at IWA 2017
Johann Fanzoj, gunmaker: a name that since 1790 causes strong excitement in all those who can afford luxury rifles and shotguns of the highest cratfsmanship level, but as well, in any student of the best gun making tradition that is still part of the European history
In Austria, the gun making tradition of Ferlach goes back to the XV century, with a manufacturing history well documented in Carinthia since 1529. Starting with the Austrian empress Maria Theresia (1717–1780) the Ferlach gun makers became the main suppliers for the Habsburg dynasty.
The Johann Fanzoj first gun laboratory was founded in 1790, soon after the death of Maria Theresia. The Fanzoj gun making tradition has arrived absolutely intact to us, with realizations of the highest quality levels, under all respects.
The Fanzoj family continues even today a tradition in gun making that, even if adopting the most modern and advanced technologies, still remains substantially made by hand, in very small quantities of the highest quality.
