New Smith & Wesson M&P 22X pistol and FPC 22LR carbine
Smith & Wesson announces the launch of the M&P 22X pistol and the M&P FPC 22LR carbine: two new rimfire entries for plinking, training, and target shooting competitions
Smith & Wesson continues to announce new products for mid-2025. Following the launch of the Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp pistol halfway through July, the Company is now introducing the M&P 22X pistol and M&P FPC 22LR carbine: two semi-automatic, rimfire guns chambered in .22 Long Rifle and conceived for target shooting, training, leisure plinking, survival, and as propedeutic tools to introduce the next generation of shooting champions to the basics of marksmanship and safe handling of firearms.

After the first M&P 22, launched back in 2011, and the M&P 22 Magnum dating back to Summer of 2023, Smith & Wesson introduces yet another rimfire entry in the M&P series of semi-automatic pistols: the new M&P 22X is built to be ergonomic, simple, and most importantly, affordable (MSRP for the US market is set at $499).
Built around a Picatinny-railed black polymer frame and featuring a black finished stainless steel barrel and slide, the M&P 22X shares the same design and aesthetics as the M&P M2.0 line of service and defensive pistols, but trades the latter's striker-fired system with a straight blowback, single-action, internal hammer-fired system that's best suited for .22 Long Rifle.

Standing at 184 mm / 7.25" in overall length, featuring a 104 mm / 4.1" barrel and weighing in at barely 462 grams / 16.32 oz when empty, the Smith & Wesson M&P 22X pistol comes with a long, M&P 2.0 style grip, with the same familiar texture but without interchangeable backstraps, and hosting 10-rounds or 20-rounds single-stack magazines.
The slide comes with a serrated drift-adjustable dovetailed rear sight and a fixed green fiber-optic front post, and is optics-ready from factory. The controls configuration of the new M&P 22X is based on the tried and true M&P 2.0 series, including a reversible magazine catch and a "Glock-style" trigger safety. A frame-mounted ambidextrous manual safety, which is optional on the M&P 2.0, is factory-standard on the M&P 22X.

Smith & Wesson is also expanding the M&P FPC line of foldable semi-automatic carbines with the launch of the new M&P FPC 22LR model. Standing at 771 mm / 30.4" in overall length and weighing in at approximately 2,28 kg / 80.48 oz when loaded, the new Smith & Wesson M&P FPC 22LR feeds through 20-rounds detachable single-stack magazines and features a simple straight blowback working system.
The 412 mm / 16.25" barrel of the FPC 22LR features a protected 1/2x28" thread at the muzzle, allowing the installation of flash hiders, muzzle brakes, compensators, and sound suppressors. Like all other entries in the line, the FPC 22LR can be folded to one side with a magazine in, but can not chamber a round or be fired in that condition; when folded, the M&P FPC 22LR is 16.33" / 415 mm long overall.

The grip of the M&P FPC 22LR is the same as all other entries in the line: a Smith & Wesson M&P pistol grip with four interchangeable backstraps, a flat-face trigger and a cross-bolt safety. Other features include a free-float handguard with M-LOK slots at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions and a full-length top MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail for optics or foldable iron sights; and a 37 cm / 14.5" fixed length-of-pull stock with a dedicated slot on each side allowing the transport of two fully loaded spare magazines with the carbine. MSRP on the US market is set at $549.00.
At the time of publishing, both the FPC 22LR and M&P 22X are only available on the US market; visit the official Smith & Wesson website for further information and address all inquiries about international availability and pricing to the authorized Smith & Wesson importer and distributor for your Country.
