Remington V3 Waterfowl Pro hunting shotgun
SHOT Show 2019 – The new Remington V3 Waterfowl Pro 12-gauge hunting shotgun is the latest iteration of the Company’s own flagship V3 Field Sport design
The Remington V3 Waterfowl Pro semi-automatic hunting shotgun, introduced at the 2019 edition of the NSSF SHOT Show, is the latest entry in the already vast flagship V3 Field Sport line of shotguns debuted by Remington in 2015 with the goal of providing an American-made, more aggressive competitor to the inertia-driven and gas-operated shotguns manufactured in Italy and Belgium and favored by hunters in the United States as well as in Europe.
As its own name suggests, the Remington V3 Waterfowl Pro is a 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun conceived for one of the most demanding hunting specialties – waterfowling. And indeed, most popular waterfowling shotguns use 89mm / 3.½” cartridges: heavy-hitters and hard recoilers, those “Supermagnum” loads are just what it takes to take down flying geese or ducks, but may result a little bit heavy on the shoulder of many shooters.
The Remington V3 Waterfowl pro and all other V3 series shotguns do without the extra half-inch and stick to standard 76mm/3” “Magnum” loads thanks to the VersaPort gas system, launched by Remington itself in 2010: a series of ports in the chamber, positioned so that they will remain open or be closed depending from the length of the shell, allow gas to vent in a constant quantity regardless of the load in use.
This in turn ensures reliable operation, manageable recoil and adequate propulsion, making waterfowling feasible with 3” loads without the need to go the extra mile.
The Remington V3 Waterfowl Pro shotgun is available in two options with a burnt bronze Cerakoted barrel and receiver and either a Realtree Max 5 or Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Blades camo synthetic stock and handguard; a third option with a Patriot Brown Cerakoted barrel and receiver and Realtree Timber camo handguard and stock is also available.
The barrel of the Remington V3 Waterfowl Pro shotgun is 71 cm / 28” long, and features a light contour ventilated rib, a fiber-optic front sight and mid steel bead, and a system of three interchangeable black chokes (IM, Mod, Full). The V3 Waterfowl Pro shotgun is about 120 cm (49”) long overall, and holds up to three 12-gauge, 3” shotshells in the feeding tube.
