New from Beretta, the 12-gauge A400L semi-automatic shotgun is a new and elegant take of the legendary A400 Xcel Sporting shotgun, merging the performance and speed of the A400 system with an unmistakably elegant design and an extreme level of care for details.

Conceived for the most exclusive and demanding hunters and sport shooters – particularly in Compak, Sporting and English Sporting clay pidgeon shooting competitions – Beretta's new A400L shines with its nickel-plated aluminum alloy receiver embellished by a unique floral engraving and inked background; the redesigned, glossy oil-finished stock and handguard are manufactured out of Grade 2,5+ European walnut; and the trigger, sear and bolt catch are DLC-finished for low attrition, smoother operation and higher resistance to intense use with a touch of modernity.

The Beretta A400L shotgun is based on Beretta's own B-Link working system: a rotating bolt head and a self-cleaning piston work together to achieve a 36% faster cycle, resulting in quicker follow-up shots, reduced recoil, minimum maintenance requirements, and compatibility with most 12-gauge loads, including 76mm / 3" shells.

The magazine tube of the A400L shotgun is topped by a modern Beretta B-Balanced steel and aluminum alloy end cap that dubs as a barrel weight, allowing the use of factory-issued inserts to provide up to 55 grams (1.94 oz) of extra weight underneath the barrel. The feeding port is enlarged, and so is the competition-grade elevator, which remains up as long as the bolt is closed, allowing pinch-proof fast reloading with all techniques, including "load-two".

The Beretta A400L shotgun is available with 71, 76 or 81 cm (28", 30" or 32") Steelium Plus barrels, deep-bored, cold-hammer forged and vacuum-distended out of Beretta's own Ni-Cr-Mo steel, featuring a 320mm double forcing cone for optimal terminal performance, better recoil management and tighter, dense, effective groups with all types of ammunition.

The OptimaBore HP profile, shared by all the barrels used on the A400L shotguns, was conceived to provide maximum accuracy with all steel or lead-based loads; other barrel features include a 10x8mm flat, ventilated sighting rib with a white pearl front sight, and Beretta's own external, interchangeable OptimaChoke HP choke system, known for its extreme resistance to wear, corrosion, and to the additional stress caused by the extensive use of steel shot. Each A400L shotgun comes with M, IM and IC OptimaChoke HP chokes issued from factory.

The Beretta A400L shotgun offers a maximum capacity of two 12-gauge, 76mm / 3" shotshells in the magazine tube, plus one in chamber. A factory-supplied reducer can be removed to extend the tube capacity to three shells. The entire trigger group of the Beretta A400L, including the trigger guard, is manufactured out of aluminum, offering a crisp and clean break and an extremely short reset.

All other controls of the Beretta A400L have been improved in terms of ergonomics: the charging handle is oversized, the bolt catch release button has been moved further down the receiver, and the manual safety was made larger and reversible for left-handed and right-handed shooters alike.

Standing at 127 cm / 50" in overall length in its 71 cm / 28" barrel configuration, and weighing in at approximately 3,25 kilograms (7.16 lbs) when empty, the Beretta A400L shotgun is sold in a dedicated molded polymer guncase and comes issued with a Microcore recoil-absorbing buttpad.

Beretta's Microcore recoil-absorbing pads offer comfort, adaptability, and outstanding recoil absorption. Featuring specially designed checkering for added stability and an open-cell polyurethane structure that expands after firing, increasing contact with the shoulder for secure and precise support, Microcore pads are available in different sizes, allowing for length-of-pull adjustments in combination with Beretta spacers.
