Brand new for 2024, the PWS - Primary Weapon Systems UXR rifle, described by the manufacturing company as "The first multicaliber battle rifle", is probably the most innovative firearm seen at SHOT Show this year. Based on the patent-pending "Xchange" system – with the upper receiver housing the action, bolt and trunnion being the serialized component – the PWS "User X-Changeable Rifle" allows the shooter to quickly convert between alternate calibers and barrel lengths on the same platform by exchanging only the magazine well, barrel, and bolt head; the barrel rapidly swaps with an accurate return to zero.

The lower receiver, hosting the fire control group, is one of the fully interchangeable components: it is compatible with AR-15 pistol grips, most AR-15 triggers, and features a side-folding and adjustable stock that can be configured to fold to the left or right side. Likewise, the magazine well can be changed to accept various types of magazines. The handguard is manufactured out of machined aluminum, is M-LOK compatible, and can be swapped with a shorter model for short-barrel configurations.

A piston-driven system, the PWS UXR is available from factory in a .223 Wylde configuration (compatible with .223 Remington/5.56x45mm and 5.56x45mm NATO loads) a .308 configuration (compatible with .308 Winchester, 7.62x51mm and 7.62x51mm NATO loads); and a .300-AAC "Blackout" configuration. Conversion kits will feature different barrel lengths and will allow the use of other calibers such as 7.62x39mm, 6.5 Creedmoor and 8.6 BLK.
