Desert-Tech WLVRN: the next generation bull-pup rifle

The Desert-Tech WLVRN bull-pup semi-automatic rifle, launched at the 2024 edition of SHOT Show, is the direct successor of the MDR-X, introduced by the same company way back in 2014; conceived to replace the MDR-X, which has been officially discontinued and phased out of production by Desert-Tech on January 24, 2024, the WLVRN does without the MDR-X's forward-ejection system, sticking with a standard side-ejecting system, but nonetheless introducing a plethora of improvements over the MDR-X.

Utilizing an all-new integrated receiver, the Desert-Tech WLVRN is completely new on the inside while maintaining the manual of arms of the MDR-X. Inheriting the barrel mounting and clamping mechanism of Desert-Tech's SRS & HTI family of bolt-action precision rifles, which is machined integrally into the receiver, the WLVRN is much stiffer than the MDR-X and 30% more accurate.

Like the MDR-X, the WLVRN is completely modular: by using a series of conversion kits, it can be converted to various configurations and barrel lengths, as well as to calibers such as 5.56x45mm NATO, 7.62x51mm NATO, .300-AAC "Blackout", and 6.5 Creedmoor. Factory and conversion barrel lenghts available include 11.5", 16", and 20". A select-fire version of the WLVRN for military, law enforcement and government customers also exists, called the "Sabertooth".

MSRP for the Desert-Tech WLVRN semi-automatic bull-pup rifle on the US market starts at $2,499.00; pre-orders are already open and first deliveries are planned for Q2 2024.
