Sako – a Finnish company, part of the Beretta Holding – unexpectedly dropped a new member of the TRG line of rifles on June 7: the Sako TRG 62 A1 bolt-action long-range rifle, chambered for the powerful .375 CheyTac (9,5×77) caliber, is dedicated to military, law enforcement, and special operations customers as a high-accuracy interdiction and light anti-matériel purposes.

The .375 CheyTac caliber produces a recoil similar to that of .338 Lapua Magnum, but develops 25% more energy at the muzzle (10.000 Joules), and 900 meters per second (2,952 fps), allowing the Sako TRG 62 A1 to offer guaranteed and constant accuracy for target engagement at ranges up to two kilometers, or 1.24 miles.

The controls configuration of the new TRG 62 A1 is similar to that of other Sako TRG rifles, to simplify familiarization and training, but the action has been redesigned to handle the ballistics of .375 CheyTac. The detachable magazine hosts up to seven rounds.

The Sako TRG 62 A1 rifle comes with a 30-inch (76,2 cm) cold-hammer forged barrel manufactured out of a single bar of high-quality stainless steel; the barrel is fluted, comes with a massive four-chambers muzzle brake, and is free to float within an M-LOK handguard which dubs as a mounting platform for accessories. The rifle also features a full-length top MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail for optics.

The trigger group of the new Sako TRG 62 A1 rifle is the same used on the previous TRG-M10 model; as such, it is externally adjustable on a weight ranging between 1,2 to 2,1 kilograms (2.64 to 4.62 lbs) and can be easily removed for maintenance or replacement in case of a malfunction.

Another feature the new TRG 62 A1 shares with the TRG-M10 is the stock assembly, with its synthetic pistol grip; the stock folds to the side to facilitate transportation, and can be finely adjusted on several aspects. The rifle also comes with a bag-rider rest underneath the handguard. Overall weight tops 7 kilograms (15.4 lbs) when empty.

The Sako TRG 62 A1 bolt-action long-range rifle will debut at the 2024 edition of Eurosatory, scheduled for the days of June 17 thru 21 at the Nord Villepinte exhibition center in Paris (France). No information concerning potential availability and pricing on the global commercial/civilian markets has been released so far.
