FDP-9 and FDC-9: MagPul and ZEV Technologies about to make the folding gun a reality
SHOT Show 2023 – MagPul and ZEV Technologies are close to culminate the FDP-9/FDC-9 program, and the launch should take place in 2023
It has been two years since MagPul and ZEV Technologies established and announced their partnership for the development and manufacturing of the FDP-9 / FDC-9 9mm Luger folding firearm, based on MagPul’s prototype FMG-9 folding sub-machinegun that was showcased as a concept at SHOT Show well over a decade ago.
This year, once again at SHOT Show, the companies provided the public with some long-awaited updates over the development of the design: two variants will exist, with the FDP-9 being marketed in the US as a handgun and the FDC-9 being available as an NFA-regulated short barrel rifle. The development process is near its end, and both models should be commercially launched by 2023.
The initial FMG-9 concept was completely re-imagined and reworked into a firearm that shall be dependable and highly performing – a non trivial endeavor that needs time to achieve. Both companies are keeping pretty hush on all other details, including potential price, as of today.
