Archon Firearms Type B
SHOT SHOW 2018 – The Archon Firearms Type B semi-automatic pistol made its debut at the 2018 NSSF SHOT Show in Las Vegas
Back in November 2017, the Arsenal Firearms, Inc. company – also known as "Arsenal Firearms USA" – announced they would be changing their name to "Archon Firearms" and that their STRYK B pistol would be rebranded as the "Archon Firearms Type B", with a projected release date now slated for late Spring 2018.
The new Archon Firearms Type B was on display at the 2018 SHOT Show nonetheless, and selected members of the specialized press had the chance to test it at the 2018 Industry Day at the Range the day before the official opening of SHOT Show. The Archon Firearms Type B does not differ much from the STRYK B as it was originally showcased at SHOT back in 2017.
A variant of the original Italian-made Arsenal Firearms AF-1 "Strike One", the Archon Firearms Type B semi-automatic pistol retains most of the earlier's technical features. Archon Firearms acts as an importer and distributor for the United States: the Archon Firearms Type B pistol is indeed manufactured in Europe, more specifically in Germany. Caliber is 9mm Luger, and the magazine holds fifteen rounds overall.
Featuring a 4-inch barrel for an overall length of 7.5 inches (193 mm), the Archon Firearms Type B is more akin to a service pistol like a Glock 17 or Glock 19 than to a full-length, Combat-sized pistol like the original AF-1 "Strike One"; this would make it much more desirable for concealed carry license holders. The slide and frame of the Archon Firearms Type B were also redesigned from the original, with a flat trigger, a different checkering pattern on the grip, a different shape of the slide, and the possibility to accept Glock sights.
