Springfield Armory SAINT AR-15 pistol
The Springfield Armory SAINT AR-15 pistol is a stockless, short-barrel variant of the SAINT rifle equipped with an armbrace and an M-LOK handguard
Springfield Armory, LLC. introduced its first AR-15 based modern sporting rifle – the SAINT model – exactly one year ago. Subsequently showcased to the general public at the 2017 edition of the SHOT Show in Las Vegas, this premier rifle quickly gained the favour of shooters in the United States.
On November 1st, 2017, the company announced the expansion of the line with the SAINT AR-15 Pistol, bringing the same impact of the SAINT platform to a whole new category. The SAINT AR-15 Pistol is highly capable and upgraded out of the box, but in stock-free pistol form.
Due to U.S. Federal laws, the Springfield Armory SAINT AR-15 Pistol does without a rifle buttstock – replaced by a rugged SB Tactical SBX-K forearm brace installed on a carbine-style "H" heavy tungsten buffer tube to reduce size, stabilize recoil, and enhance accuracy in one or two-hand shooting.
A 7.5-inch (19 cm) barrel with a 1:7 twist makes the SAINT pistol small, fast, and ideal for CQB. The 416R stainless steel barrel is Melonite treated to be harder and more accurate than chrome, and is chambered for 5.56 NATO (.223) so ammunition is affordable, versatile, and seriously capable. A blast diverter is installed at the muzzle to push sound, concussion and debris forward towards the target – instead of at the operator or fellow shooters – ensuring a more comfortable shooting experience.
The Springfield Armory SAINT AR-15 Pistol is based on a direct gas impingment system, with a pistol-length gas tube and port, a low-profile pinned gas block, and an M16 bolt carrier group that's precision-machined out Carpenter 158 steel, shot peened, magnetic-particle inspected and finished in Melonite for superior durability.
Both the upper and lower receivers of SAINT AR-15 Pistol are built out of forged 7075-T6 aluminum that's hard-coat Type III anodized in black for resistance to aggressive elements. The upper receiver features an Accu-Tite™ tension system that increases the tension between the two receivers, ensuring an ideal fit and reducing slop: none of the shake and rattle so common with MIL-SPEC ARs is to be found here.
The slender, agile handguard of the SAINT AR-15 Pistol is a Springfield Armory exclusive, patent-pending free float design, with locking tabs and features a forward hand stop. No sights are included: a full-length machined MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail on top of the upper receiver and a shorter rail at the front end of the handguard allow the use of either aftermarket iron sights or optical sights.
The rifle’s crisp, enhanced nickel boron-coated GI single-stage trigger is paired with a Bravo Company trigger guard. Other features of the Springfield Armory SAINT AR-15 Pistol include a Bravo Company Mod.3 pistol grip, Springfield Armory's own receiver extension fit with a quick-detach swivel mount, and a factory-issued 30-rounds MagPul P-MAG Gen.3 polymer magazine.
26.½ inch (67,31 cm) long overall and weighing in at 5 lb 8 oz (approximately 2,5 kilograms), the Springfield Armory SAINT AR-15 Pistol is sold in a soft AR-15 pistol case; the manufacturer's suggested retail price is set at $989.00 in the United States.
