The 2026 edition of SIG Next – an invitation-only exhibition of SIG Sauer's new products open only to professional observers and the specialized press, held on the SIG Sauer's headquarters ground on September 23/24 in Newington, New Hampshire – saw SIG Sauer unexpectedly introduce a brand new line of modular, striker-fired semi-automatic pistols.

Dubbed the P385 and chambered in 9mm Luger, SIG Sauer's new handgun series is clearly inspired by both the Company's own P365 and P320 lines – particularly, the new P385 feeds through double-stack SIG Sauer P320 magazines and will accept 10, 15, 17, and 21-rounds magazines – with a sprinkle of P211 looks particularly in the tapered shape of the slide.

Compared to its predecessors, however, the SIG Sauer P385 line also sports a considerable amount of new features, both in terms of design and manufacturing, meant to improve ergonomics and performance – starting with a remarkable combo of a considerably lower bore axis and SIG Sauer's new Recoil Dampening System (SRDS), meant to improve accuracy and controllability.

The SIG Sauer P385 are built around a carbon steel slide and a polymer frame – or grip module, as SIG Sauer calls it – where a stainless steel chassis and a separate, self-contained, removable trigger group are hosted. The trigger group is the serialized component, thus representing the firearm proper from a legal standpoint.

This would technically allow users to assemble and customize their own P385 variant based on the same serialized component while using all sorts of available barrels, slides and frames, without legal hurdles – at least, in those Countries where pressure-bearing components such as slides and barrels aren't regulated.

The common features shared by all models include a new flat-face trigger with SIG Trigger Block for a smooth pull, crisp break, and short reset; a Picatinny railed frame; a beveled magazine well for easier reloads; a low-profile slide stop and aggressively checkered magazine release catch and thumb rest on the left side of the frame; and a new MagStrap grip, featuring a laser-engraved ReActive slip-proof checkering pattern for a solid grip in all conditions, and an interchangeable slip-on backstrap allowing customization to fit left-handed and right-handed shooters of any hand size.

The slides can vary depending on the configuration, but all share common features such as deep front and rear serrations, a set of SIG Sauer XRAY3 day/night sights, and a SIG-LOC PRO machined optics interface for micro red dot sights.

All models share the same entirely ambidextrous controls configuration and are optionally available with an ambidextrous frame-mounted safety. Two color options – matte black and flat dark earth – have been announced at launch.
