First announced in early May, and currently available on the US market only, the SIG Sauer ROMEO-MDC micro red dot sight stands out on an already very crowded market due to its peculiar size-to-weight ratio and its very specific intended use.

Standing at barely 4 cm / 1.59" in length, 2,55 cm / 1" in height and 2,7 cm / 1.08" in width, the ROMEO-MDC "Mini Daily Carry" is one of the lightest and most compact micro reflex sights currently available worldwide, and was specifically conceived for daily use on micro-compact concealed carry handguns.

Built around a durable, matte black hard anodized 7075-T6 aluminum alloy body and made even slimmer by its open-emitter design, the SIG Sauer ROMEO-MDC micro reflex sight tips the scales at barely 29,2 grams (1.03 oz) – an ideal weight point for a device conceived for subcompact, deep-concealed carry handguns that need to weigh as little as possible.

The SIG Sauer ROMEO-MDC features a front aspherical optical glass lens with a proprietary SpectraCoat optical coating; this highly efficient, ultra-wide broadband anti-reflection coating minimizes surface reflections across the visible spectrum, delivering superior light transmission and exceptional visual clarity.

Additionally, the lens also features a high-performance red notch reflector coating, designed to selectively reflect the red light emitted by the LED back to the shooter's eye, ensuring a crisp, bright dot while allowing ambient light to pass through for a clear sight picture.

The SIG Sauer ROMEO-MDC micro reflex sight is available in 3 MOA or 6 MOA versions and is powered by a single CR1632 3V battery; a top-mounted battery compartment, secured by a threaded cap, allows for easy battery changes without the need to remove the optic from the firearm, thus preventing loss of zero.

A set of two rubberized buttons located on each side of the ROMEO-MDC allow manual activation and deactivation of the red dot, and provide access to twelve incremental brightness levels, two of which are compatible with night vision devices. The reticle will blink three times when the highest or lowest setting is reached.

The SIG Sauer ROMEO-MDC micro reflex sight shares the same footprint as the popular Shield RMSc, making it compatible with a broad array of optics-ready firearms, either directly or through third-party adapter plates.

Also featured on the ROMEO-MDC is the MOTAC motion-activated illumination system that will shut off the reticle if no motion is detected for two monutes, and will power it back on to the last used brightness setting the instant it detects motion. Depending on the selected brightness level, a single battery can offer up to 20,000 hours of runtime.

Two recessed 1-MOA-per-click turrets located on the rear top and rear right portions of the ROMEO-MDC body allow the reticle to be adjusted for windage and elevation on a 120 MOA range.

The SIG Sauer ROMEO-MDC micro reflex sight comes issued from factory with a set of M3, Long M4 and Short M4 Torx screws for prompt and rock-solid installation on a broad range of optics-ready pistols, and is IPX7-certified to resist immersion in water up to 1 meter (3.28 ft) for 30 minutes.

As clearly indicated on the bottom of the sight's body, the SIG Sauer ROMEO-MDC is assembled in China, which allows for a truly affordable price point: manufacturer's suggested retail price on the US market is set at $249.99.

Additionally, like all SIG Sauer optics, the ROMEO-MDC is covered by SIG Sauer's Infinite Guarantee against any damage caused by defects in material, workmanship, electrical, optical, and mechanical function.
