Aimpoint COA, the new Red Dot sight for Glock pistols
Developed by Aimpoint in collaboration with Glock, the Aimpoint COA red dot sight is compact and lightweight while offering superior performance for personal defense, duty, and concealed carry
Aimpoint – a global leader in optical sights for sporting, hunting, defensive, personal protection, and professional purposes – announced on January 7th, 2025, the launch of a new red dot sight developed in close collaboration with Glock: the new Aimpoint COA is the lighter and most compact red dot sight ever offered by the Swedish company, specifically dedicated to concealed carry, personal defense and use on duty by law enforcement, military and private security personnel along with a line of dedicated Glock pistols that will be made available shortly.
The Aimpoint COA red dot reflex sight, as the manufacturing company calls it, features a 3.5 MOA dot powered by a single CR2032 3 volts battery. The red dot is adjustable for windage and elevation via a Torx key through two recessed turrent on the sides of the sight body, and can be set on twelve different brightness levels, for of which are compatible with night vision devices.
Depending on the selected level of illumination, a single "button" CR2032 battery – hosted in a easily accessible compartment on one side of the sight body, thus replaceable without requiring removal of the optic from the firearm – can offer over 50.000 hours of continuous runtime: for those who won't do the math, that's more or less five years!
Like Aimpoint's own, highly successful previous ACRO model, the COA is a fully enclosed design, with a black aircraft-grade aluminum alloy chassis and multi-coated optical glass lenses, although vastly more compact. The objective lens is protected by a slant frame that can be used to rack the slide against a flat hard surface to chamber a round or clear a stoppage in an emergency.
The Aimpoint COA red dot sight is completely sealed against the infiltration of contaminants, is submersible in water up to 25 meters (80 ft), and offers total co-witnessing with standard Glock sights, despite weighing in at barely 48 grams (1.7 oz).
Both the recessed adjustment turrets and the two manual on-off and brightness adjustment turrets located on the left side of the optic chassis offer a crisp and positive tactile feeling upon handling, facilitating accurate and intuitive handling and adjustments on the field even when wearing gloves.
Further optimizing energy consumption, the activation and adjustment buttons require the user to apply a long pressure on the + button to activate the user interface before any adjustment can be made; the user interface then self-deactivates four seconds after the final pressure, preventing accidental activation if the sight presses against the holster, clothes, or any surface.
Additionally, an auto-step down function automatically brings the brightness level down one level every two hours if the sight is left on and with brightness setting at or above level 9.
The Aimpoint COA red dot sight will be made available only and solely jointly with Glock pistols coming from factory with the new, jointly-developed A-CUT interface: a proprietary solution consisting into a deep A-shaped machined on to the slide, with front and rear wedge cuts and a separate interface for a rear iron sight module.
The A-CUT interface allows the Aimpoint COA sight to be mounted lower and deeper within the slide, supported on all four sides, totally eliminating any movement of the optic and making it more stable and resilient against the brutal recoil of the pistol.
