Winchester WWII Victory Series ammunition in 12-gauge and .30 M1
SHOT Show 2019 – Winchester's WWII Victory Series line of ammunition expands with the launch of the new .30 M1 and 12-gauge entries, to hit the markets by the end of 2019
First launched in 2018, the Winchester WWII Victory Series of ammunition pays honor to the anniversary of World War 2 with a special collector's edition cartons and wood box packages. All ammunition as part of the series will also include special head stamps and period correct load specifications.
First introduced in .45 ACP and .30-06 Springfield, the Winchester WWII Victory Series ammunition will soon also be available in 12 gauge and .30 M1 – completing the quartet of cartridges that served with the U.S. Forces on all the theaters of operation during World War 2.
Available starting June 2019 in the United States, the Winchester WWII Victory Series 12-gauge shotshells will use period-correct brass hulls and the same 9-pellets, 00 Buckshot configuration as loaded on the quintessential Winchester M1897 "Trench Gun" pump-action shotguns.
During WWII, paper hulls commonly used for shotgun shells were inadequate in wet and rugged conditions on the battlefield. In response, Winchester provided full-length brass cased buckshot shells for use in clearing trenches and close fighting. Due to the advent of plastics, these shells have not been commercially available from Winchester for decades, but remain a very eye-catching piece of wartime history.
Similarly, the .30 M1 Winchester WWII Victory Series ammunition will be loaded to the same specs (110 gr ball) that paratroopers carried on their Winchester M1 and M1A1 semi-automatic carbines while jumping into Normandy on D-Day and elsewhere throughout the war. Scheduled availability for the .30 Carbine caliber Winchester WWII Victory Series ammunition is set for November 2019 for the U.S. market.
