New Ruger ARX self-defense pistol ammunition
SHOT Show 2016 - Sturm, Ruger & Company and PolyCase Ammunition® have introduced the new Ruger® ARX® ammunition. This new self-defense pistol ammunition is designed and produced by PolyCase® under license from Ruger and incorporates PolyCase’s ARX bullet technology.
From the research and development laboratory of PolyCase Ammunition, the ARX projectile has established itself as the next generation of highly effective self-defense ammunition. The unique Polycase ARX bullet profile transfers maximum energy to the target from a fluid dynamic effect. By design, the non-expanding Ruger ARX ammunition exploits the bullet’s velocity to redirect energy laterally via flutes in the bullet ogive. This effect results in stopping power and terminal performance that rivals that of many expanding handgun bullets.
The design of the Ruger ARX ammunition allows it to feed in the barrel cartridge chamber like a round nose. The Polycase ARX bullet penetrates many barriers without deformation, and penetrates clothing without degrading its terminal performance.
The Ruger ARX ammunition utilizes injected molded copper/polymer matrix projectiles. Unlike traditional bullets, this unique material can be molded into complex bullet shapes. These lightweight bullets are launched at high velocities and achieve very high energy levels, yet keeping the recoil under control and the loaded weight of firearms well under average levels. The copper/polymer bullets fragment upon striking solid obstacles, making them ideal for use in indoor shooting situations.
The new Ruger ARX self-defense ammunition is available in popular semiautomatic pistol calibers, like .380 Auto, 9 mm Luger, .45 ACP and soon also in .40 Smith & Wesson.
