Ballistol Multi-Purpose Oil
SHOT Show 2018 – With its presence at the 2018 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, the German Ballistol brand reaffirms its leadership status on the global market of gun care products
“The original CLP”, that’s how they tend to call it: cleaning, lubricating and preserving firearms has been a job for Ballistol ever since the original formula was invented in 1904. 114 years later, the manufacturing company – F.W. Klever GmbH of Anam, Germany – still produces it following the original formula, and it still works!
The packaging for the Ballistol Multi-Purpose Oil on the north American market is radically different from the European one – chiefly it’s mainly green rather than mainly white – but the product is the same: a mineral oil-based chemical with added pharmaceutical white oil and essential oils that has been proven for over a Century to be superior to basically every competitor, even the most modern and advanced ones.
Ballistol is equally effective in cleaning firearms from any kind of dirt and residue – even the most challenging and daunting ones to remove, including carbon residues – while at the same kind remaining easy to remove and being gentle on metal finishes, on wooden and polymer furniture, and on even the most sensitive gun parts. After treatment with Ballistol, firearms will come out squeaky clean, perfectly functional, well lubricated, and protected by a lasting patina that sports a distinctive pleasant herbal smell.
On top of that, Ballistol is completely non-toxic – to the point that it’s safe to ingest! – and contains no carcinogen substances, unlike many other firearm cleaning products; it is also a strong disinfectant, and can be used to treat small wounds on humans and animals alike, so much that during World War I and World War II, German soldiers were taught how to concoct emergency field wound dressing with Ballistol. In the U.S. it is sold in 1.5 oz, 4 oz, 6 oz and 16 oz spray cans, and in practical ready-to-use wipes.
