The design of the Peli Air cases is based on that of the Company's own, highly appreciated Protector cases – which was revolutionized to cut weight without compromising durability.
As such, the new Peli Air cases are manufactured of of HPXs™ resin, the next generation of Pelican’s proprietary formula that rebounds to stress without breaking. Honeycomb structural elements that are actually stronger than solid polymer material add up to the overall strength of the design, while super-stiff "full box" sections are engineered to create hollow parts.
Some of the features features of the Peli Air line of cases includes the Company's tough double-throw latches; an automatic purge valve and a watertight O-Ring gasket to balance air pressure and keep the cases watertight; a new style "Conic Curve" lid shape that makes it virtually crushproof and dustproof; stainless steel hasp protectors and rubber overmolded handles that will withstand harsh and intense use; and a removable polycarbonate card holder with front or side placement, with the busy traveler in mind – something that goes along with the design of some of the cases such as the wheeled carry-on, overhead bin standard-sized 1535 model or the wheeled check-in sized 1615 model.

The Peli Air cases are available in several padding configurations: they can be equipped with the standard Pick N Pluck manually customizable cubed foam, or with newly-designed padded dividers with a fully-sewn tub, felt exterior and high-visibility yellow interior, making it easier to identify equipment.
Also available for the Peli Air cases is the patented TrekPak™ system – consisting of pre-installed wall sections, divider panels, locking pins and a fool-proof cutting tool. The user can just lay his or her gear in the case, measure and cut the divider sections and lock them in place with the steel U-pins. Extra divider material is provided so that the user can change configuration at will; divider panels are also available separately for reconfiguration.
