Kel-Tec KSG-25 shotgun: more barrel, more rounds
SHOT Show 2017 - Kel-Tec showcased the KSG-25: an extended variant of their compact pump-action shotgun, offering both extended barrel length and higher overall ammunition capacity
Ever since its first launch on the market, the Kel-Tec KSG pump-action shotgun has been one of the most intriguing, modern, and high-capacity firearms of its kind available on the market.
Offering small size, versatility and total ambidextrous capabilities, the Kel-Tec KSG has so far been so much sought-after by shooters that for many years the number of samples manufactured by the company has been too low to meet the demand.
The overall length of the KSG, however, makes it illegal to own under many jurisdictions. That's specifically the case of Germany, where pump action shotguns shorter than 95 centimetres overall and with a barrel shorter than 45 centimetres are banned. Kel-Tec distributors in Germany thus specifically asked the company to create a KSG variant that would be legal for German hunters and shooters to acquire.
The result was the KSG-25, which Kel-Tec decided not to distribute only in Germany but worldwide, with limited distribution starting in north America in the third quarter of 2017 if demand is high enough.
The Kel-Tec KSG is half an inch shorter than a standard design pump-action shotgun with an 8-shots tube, but offers a longer, shrouded barrel for extended range and accuracy, and more important, a greatly extended capacity: the summed capacity of the two feeding tubes plus the chamber tops twenty-five 2.¾"/70mm shotshells, twenty-one 3"/76mm shells, and an astounding forty-one 1.5" short-sized shotshells.
The Kel-Tec KSG-25 comes issued with accessories such as MagPul's own RVG railed vertical grip and MBUS back-up foldable sights; the downward shell ejection, the placement of the tube selector switch and manual safety, and the smooth pump-action makes the Kel-Tec KSG-25 practical and totally ambidextrous to operate.
