Derya Napoli N-100: the new bull-pup shotgun from Turkey
One of the latest entry in the current trend of bull-pup shotguns for sport shooting, hunting, and home or property protection manufactured in Turkey is the Napoli N-100, soon to be launched by Derya Arms in 12 gauge and .410 gauge versions

The Turkish arms industry – one of the world's main manufacturers of civilian-grade, tactical-style semi-automatic and pump-action shotguns – has been lately developing somewhat of a fetish for the bull-pup design. The Uzkon UNG-12 is an example of the current trend, but not the only one.
Back in March, at the 2017 edition of the IWA OutdoorClassics expo in Nuremberg (Germany), another Turkish gunmaker – Derya Arms, already known on the global market particularly thanks to its line of magazine-fed semi-automatic sporting and tactical shotguns – first showcased the Napoli N-100. Currently in pre-production, the Napoli N-100 is slated to be made available to international customers later on in April.
The Derya Napoli N-100 shotgun will be available in 12 gauge and .410 gauge
The Napoli N-100 (yes, "Napoli", like the city in Italy!) is a sleek gas-operated semi-automatic bullpup shotgun, with a piston located underneath the barrel. It will be available in two calibers: 12 gauge – with a 76mm / 3" chamber – and .410 gauge. Detachable box magazines will be available offering a capacity of 5+1 and 10+1 shotshells.
Despite the overall weight of 3,5 kilograms (7.71 lbs) – due to the 100% 7075 machined aluminum construction of the receiver and forend – the Derya Napoli N-100 shotgun is well balanced and manageable, particularly given the overall length of 72 cm (28.3"). The barrel is 46 cm / 18,15" long overall, machined out from a solid bar stock of 42CrMo4 stainless steel; it is also chrome-lined, and the front portion is protected by a ventilated aluminum shroud.

The forend of the Derya Napoli N-100 shotgun is also ventilated, and features three MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rails for tactical accessories. A raised Picatinny rail dubs as both a optics attachment platform and a carrying handle, and also integrates a fiber-optic front sight and an adjustable rear sight.
All the controls are located on the right side: the cocking handle runs just underneath the carrying handle, the magazine drop catch and the hold-open release button are both located around the magazine well, and the manual safety button is located in front of the trigger guard.
The pistol grip is manufactured out of polymer, and is pretty much patterned after an AR-15 grip, although much more angled. A rubberized buttpad contributes to dampen felt recoil and enhance controllability.
Other features of the Derya Napoli N-100 shotgun include a shell deflector for left-handed shooting, and a 10-positions adjustable or removeable polymer cheek riser.

The world of bull-pup shotguns is still relatively small, and that gives the Derya Napoli N-100 more or less a shot at success. The availability of a .410 gauge variant as an alternative to the full-bore 12g version makes it viable specifically to those shooters and hunters who don't like, or can't handle, the kick and blast of a full-power 12-gauge shell.
At the same time, a .410 shotgun that's so compact and maneuverable in close quarters, particularly if paired to a high-capacity magazine, could be an excellent choice for home defense, given the low recoil, muzzle climb and noise signature of .410 compared to the good stopping power of dedicated defense loads.
