Umarex Hammer in .50 caliber
SHOT Show 2018 – The sensation air rifle of the 2017 SHOT Show is finally ready: once again showcased in Las Vegas, the Umarex Hammer .50 caliber air rifle offers a staggering 700 ft.lb of energy at the muzzle!
The 2018 SHOT Show saw the German-based UMAREX company, a global leader in airgun technology, finally launch the air rifle that astounded the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas exactly one year ago: the UMAREX Hammer.
The UMAREX Hammer is a PCP (pre-compressed pneumatic) air rifle conceived specifically for long-range field target shooting and for airgun hunting (where legal). It is chambered to fire astonishing .50-caliber air rifle ammunition, feeding from a three-shots harmonica clip that slides from the left to the right of the receiver when the gun is fired.
Propulsion is provided by a 4500 psi refillable air canister equipped with a regulator that guarantees constant energy and propulsion shot after shot. Capacity before reload is low, given the caliber, but the astounding level of muzzle energy – 700 ft.lb, that being almost 900 Joules at the muzzle! – makes up for it.
The barrel of the UMAREX Hammer is patterned after that of a legendary military weapon – the Browning M2 heavy machinegun – and is a true .50 caliber. Given the power level it may not be freely available everywhere – it could require a license in many Countries – but airgun hunters, competition shooters and serious collectors will want to take a close look at this one.
