Pedersoli's new 1886 lever-action carbine and Howdah flintlock pistol
SHOT Show 2020 – The Davide Pedersoli company, one of the world's best-known manufacturers of historical replica firearms, introduced a new carbine version of its Model 1886 lever-action rifle as well as a flintlock version of its Howdah pistol
The Pedersoli model 1886 lever-action carbine and Howdah Hunter Shotgun flintlock smoothbore pistol, introduced by the Italian company at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas, add up to the already vast catalogue of one of the world's best known manufacturers of historic replica firearms, and are available for the discerning hunters, shooters and collectors looking for firearms that would need to be both practical and aesthetically appeasing.
The Pedersoli 1886 lever-action carbine is a short-barrel version of the Company's already known Model 1886 Sporting rifle – a well-regarded and well-respected modern replica of one of John Moses Browning's most classic and quintessential designs.
Featuring a 46 cm / 18.1", broached PMG (Pedersoli Match Grade) barrel, with six right-handed grooves, the Pedersoli 1886 Carbine is merely 1 mt / 39.3" overall, which makes it more manageable on the hunting field or in shooting competitions.
The Pedersoli 1886 Carbine is chambered for the powerful .45/70 Government caliber, with a tubular magazine offering up to five rounds in capacity plus one in chamber, and offers classic and appealing features such as a case-hardened finish on the receiver, a cylindric profile barrel, a dovetailed drift-adjustable front sight with a brass insert and a fully adjustable rear sight.
Standing at 3,6 kilograms (7.9 oz) in weight, the Pedersoli 1886 Carbine also comes with an American walnut stock and handguard.
Likewise new is the Pedersoli Howdah Hunter Flintlock smoothbore pistol – another new take on a well-established Pedersoli replica, this time the Howdah pistol. A flintlock operation and a 20-gauge chambering tell this break barrel pistol apart from its earlier variant.
Other features include a walnut pistol grip and handguard, a double trigger, an elegant brass bead front sight, and no chokes, allowing the gun to fire wither buckshots or birdshot. The pistol weighs 2,2 kilograms (4.85 lbs) overall and sports a nice opaque finish on all metal surfaces.
