Umarex introduces the AirSaber Elite X2 double-barrel PCP arrow rifle
SHOT Show 2022 - The US-based branch of Umarex introduces the AirSaber pre-compressed pneumatic double-barrel air rifle, capable or propelling arrows at blistering speed with lightning-fast second-shot capabilities and energy levels high enough to bring down even the hardest game!
The Umarex AirSaber Elite X2 double-barrel PCP arrow rifle was officially introduced to the north American public during the 2022 edition of the SHOT Show, in Las Vegas – quite a low-intensity edition, following one year of hiatus, both due to the ongoing pandemic and related restrictions – and is definitely a peculiar product: the world's first double-barrel air arrow gun.
There are several States in the US where arrow guns, bows and crossbows are legal for hunting. And that's the niche market that products such as the Umarex AirSaber Elite X2 – essentially an air-powered crossbow – are aimed towards. Archery enthusiasts in other Countries, however, may be interested in this kind of air rifles due to their stellar level of performance, which quite literally brings crossbow marksmanship to a whole new level.

With its 176 Joule (130 ft-lbs) of muzzle energy and approximately 130 meters per second (450 fps) of muzzle velocity, the Umarex AirSaber Elite X2 is definitely a behemoth – which would also make it a regulated or restricted item in many Countries – but let's take a closer look at it.
The AirSaber Elite X2 is a double-barrel version of the Umarex AirSaber air-powered crossbow, first introduced in early 2020. Like its predecessor, the AirSaber Elite X2 sports an ergonomic green synthetic stock with a comfortable length of pull and three MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail portions for accessories at the front hand of the handguard. A machined top Picatinny rail on the receiver allows the installation of optical sights.
The Umarex AirSaber Elite X2 also features a 240 cc on-board air tank with built-in pressure gauge, providing up to 25 shots at big game lethal velocity between refills. A side-mounted, 3,6 kg / 8 lb. cocking effort lever engages a single-stage, smooth 1,36 kg / 3lbs trigger. The Umarex Straight Flight 276-grain carbon-fiber shaft arrows are then inserted frontally to each barrel.
A thumb-activated, push-button selector located just above the charging handle of the Umarex AirSaber Elite X2 allows the users to quickly and effortlessly pass from right to left barrel, although the charging handle must be recocked before each shot. The implementation of a wide array of proprietary Umarex technologies allows the AirSaber Elite X2 and its arrows to withstand a blistering 4000 PSI pressure level, shot by shot, while offering low recoil and high levels of accuracy and performance.
The Umarex AirSaber Elite X2 is 1079 mm / 42.5" long overall, features two 54,61 cm / 21.5" barrels and weighs in at 3,94 kilograms / 8.7 lbs empty.
Each AirSaber Elite X2 PCP arrow rifle comes issued with an Axeon Optics 4x32 air archery ballistic riflescope and three Umarex arrows, with Adapta Point points; the Straight Flight technology arrows receive energy directly to the front of the arrow unlike conventional arrows. This allows the energy to drive the arrow straight without bending them.
The Umarex AirSaber Elite X2 will be available commercially on the US market starting Spring 2022, at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $499.99.
