Steyr Arms GAMS rifles for mountain hunting
No surprise if mountain hunting also affects the Austrian company Steyr Arms. They just released the GAMS, a lightweight and versatile bolt-action rifle built around a light carbon fiber stock
Freshly announced for late 2023, the Steyr Arms GAMS bolt-action rifle is the latest entry in the vast, and ever-expanding, market for specialized alpine hunting rifles. Built around a FBT - Fine Ballistic Tools carbon fiber stock, with a Thumbhole-style stock and an adjustable cheek riser, the Steyr GAMS rifle is available in two calibers – .223 Remington and 6.5 Creedmoor – and weighs in at barely 2,4 kilograms (5.29 lbs) or 2,5 kilograms (5.5 lbs) when empty, depending on the caliber.
Both caliber variants of the Steyr GAMS rifle feature a 48,5 cm (19") fluted barrel, and top 1020 mm (40,2") in overall length. Additionally, both models feature top machined MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail segments for optics and feed through four-rounds detachable magazines. A two-stage trigger or a forward set trigger option are available upon request.
Buyers of the Steyr Arms GAMS rifle also have a choice between a three-position safety (trigger safety, bolt handle and firing pin lock), or a separate hand-cocking system.
The Steyr Arms GAMS bolt-action hunting rifle is already available on the European market and in selected Countries. For informations concerning local availability and pricing, consult your closest Steyr Arms dealer or the authorized Steyr Arms distributor for your Country.
