The Smith & Wesson Model 1854 series of lever-action rifles, first introduced at the 2024 SHOT Show, expands now with the launch of two new variants.

Following the success of the first .44 Magnum entries, the Model 1854 rifles will now also be available in the quintessential .45 Colt caliber, more appropriate for the classic lever-action design.

Like the previous .44 Magnum rifles, the new Model 1854 rifles chambered in .45 Colt will be distributed by Smith & Wesson in two variants: the Traditional Walnut model, with a classic walnut furniture set and a full black Armornite finish on all outer metal surfaces; and the baseline model, with a full stainless finish and black polymer furniture.

All models feature a single-action trigger, with a cross-bolt manual safety and an external hammer that will dub as an additional safety feature when manually downed to the classic half-cock position.

The 416 stainless steel receiver features an ejection port on the right side and a top MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail for optics; the 19.¼" barrel, manufactured out of 410 stainless steel, features a 11/16-24" thread at the muzzle for sound suppressors or other accessories. Other features include a bead front sight and an XS Sights peep rear sight.

Additionally, both models feature a large loop charging handle and a flat-face trigger. The magazine tube holds up to nine rounds of .45 Colt ammunition and is removable for easy cleaning and maintenance.

The walnut furniture on the "Traditional" model sports elegant slip-proof textures on the grip panels of both the stock and handguard; the baseline stainless model comes with two M-LOK slots, one on either side of the handguard, allowing additional compatibility with modern accessories.

The barrel is rifled to a 1:20" twist rate, with eight grooves and a right-handed pitch. The top Picatinny rail is easily removed and replaced with mounts compatible with Marlin 1894 hole patterns, for those who like direct installation of optics on to the receiver.

Standing at 91,44 cm / 36" in overall length and weighing in at 3,2 kilograms (108.8 oz) when empty, the new Smith & Wesson Model 1854 .45  Colt lever-action rifles are sold on the US market at a MSRP of $1,279.00 for the stainless model and $1,399.00 for the "Traditional walnut" model.
