Savage Arms 110 Carbon Predator: a new lightweight hunting rifle
The new Savage Arms 110 Carbon Predator bolt-action rifle turns the hunter into the hunted with its granite-textured lightweight AccuFit polymer stock and carbon-wrapped PROOF Research barrel, keeping overall weight to a minimum
The Savage Arms 110 Carbon Predator bolt-action hunting rifle is the latest entry in the vast Savage Arms 110 line of rifles, and has been optimized specifically for hunting small and mid-sized predators, for varmint hunting, and more generally to provide accuracy and reliability in all those hunting conditions that require a rifle to be stable, precise, hard-hitting, and yet lightweight enough to be carried more or less effortlessly on long distances.
The Savage Arms 110 Carbon Predator bolt-action rifle is manufactured in six popular hunting calibers – .223 Remington, .308 Winchester, .22-250 Remington, 6mm ARC, 6.5 Creedmoor, and .300 AAC "Blackout" – and does manage to meet all the aforementioned demands, including an overall weight of 3,08 kilograms (6.59 lbs) when empty.
Definitely not a menial feat, which the new Savage Arms 110 Carbon Predator bolt-action hunting rifle pulls in no small parts thanks to a PROOF Research carbon-fiber wrapped, stainless steel cut-rifled barrel.
The Savage Arms 110 Carbon Predator features a 457 mm / 18" or 558 mm / 22" barrel, depending on the caliber; all come a threaded muzzle, allowing the use of accessories such as flash hiders, muzzle brakes, or sound suppressors where allowed by law.
The action of the Savage Arms 110 Carbon Predator is manufactured out of matte black carbon steel action: the bolt is fluted for faster cycling, to reduice weight, and to provide drainage points for any kind of gunk that may otherwise hinder operation. The receiver features 2-piece Weaver style bases for scopes.
The new Savage Arms 110 Carbon Predator rifle also comes with a sliding safety located behind the action, at quick and easy thumb reach; a floating bolt head designed to allow a few thousandths of an inch of movement and to adjust itself for a perfect fit typically only found in rifles with hand-lapped locking lugs; and an externally user-adjustable AccuTrigger, offering a weight range between 1,13 kg / 2.5 lbs anmd 2,72 kg / 6 lbs.
The rifle features a blue, granite-textured, Sporter-style polymer stock with the Company's own AccuFit system, based on a combination of interchangeable comb risers and length-of-pull inserts to create a custom fit for any shooter.
The stock and the action of the 110 Carbon Predator rifle are kept together by Savage Arms' own, patented AccuStock bedding system: a rigid aluminum rail system firmly embedded in the stock throughout the forend.
Rather than uni-directionally engaging the action at one or two points, the AccuStock system engages it three-dimensionally along its entire length, providing compatively higher levels of rigidity and stability if compared with standard bedding systems.
Other features of the new Savage Arms 110 Carbon Predator bolt-action hunting rifle include a set of slip-proof inserts on the grip and handguard for a secure hold in almost all conditions; two sling swivel studs; and a detachable magazine feeding system, with all models feeding through 4-rounds Accuracy International Chassis System (AICS) single-stack polymer magazines exception made for the 6mm ARC version, which uses a 10 rounds magazine.
The Savage Arms 110 Carbon Predator bolt-action hunting rifle is currently available on the US commercial market at a suggested retail price of $1,695.00 for all variants. No information concerning export availability and pricing has been released so far; potential foreign buyers shall address their questions to their closest authorized Savage Arms distributor.
