New for 2026 from Ruger Firearms is the Harrier series of semi-automatic modern sporting rifles: a new take on the AR-15 platform for hunting, sport shooting, home and property defense, and patrol purposes. 

Chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO and compatible with all USGI (a.k.a. STANAG 4179) type magazines, the Ruger Firearms Harrier rifles feature a 16.1" Government-profile barrel with a birdcage A2-style flash hider on a 1/2"-28 thread at the muzzle and a machined aluminum M-LOK free-float handguard. All are built on receivers machined to MIL-SPEC dimensions from 7075 forgings and Type III hard coat anodized. Lower receiver includes a tension screw to eliminate play between upper and lower receiver.

Two variants are available: a mid-length gas system version, with a full-length top Picatinny rail, a MagPul DT-Carbine grip and MOE-K2 stock; and a carbine-length gas system version, with a standard A2-type grip and M4-type stock, and a lightened top handguard. All Ruger Harrier rifles feature a nitrided bolt and bolt carrier group with a staked gas key; a single-stage GI trigger, selector, charging handle, carbine buffer and spring; and are compatible with MIL-SPEC components.

MSRP on the US market is set at $699.00 for the carbine-length gas system version and $749.00 for the mid-length gas system version.
