CMMG Br47 Dissent: an all-new American ranch rifle
CMMG unveils the Br47 "Dissent" 7.62x39mm semi-automatic rifle, feeding through AKM-type magazines and blending contemporary features with a classic setup for those jurisdictions that place restrictions on modern sporting rifles
Available for orders on the US market starting December 17th, and an appropriate celebration for the first decade of CMMG's own "Dissent" line of rifles, the new CMMG Br47 Dissent 7.62x39mm semi-automatic rifle was designed and is built for those US States and those Countries that pose severe restrictions to the marketing and ownership of modern sporting and hunting rifles by civilians, or just to their use, as it's the case with many European Countries whose citizens can indeed purchase and own legally such firearms but can not use them for, to say, hunting.
An all-American ranch rifle, seamlessly blending modern manufacturing and technology with classic handling, CMMG's new Br47 Dissent is based on the Mk47 Dissent tactical rifle launched approximately one year ago; indeed, the two models share the same aircraft-grade aluminum alloy upper receiver.
Like all the Dissent rifles, the new Br47 is based on CMMG's own "Compact Direct Action Impingment" working system, basically a variation on the AR-15's quintessential direct gas impingment with a redesigned bolt that doesn't require a classic recoil buffer, buffer tube or receiver extension.
This allows all of CMMG's Dissent series rifles to feature folding stocks or be built on otherwise non-standard lower receivers, and the Br47 is no exception: its lower receiver is compatible with Remington 870 pump-action shotgun stocks, and comes from factory with a black polymer MagPul SGA stock, fully adjustable for drop, height and length, offering superior handling and ergonomics compared to any other classic-design stock out there.
The CMMG Br47 Dissent rifle feeds through AK-47/AKM compatible detachable magazines of any make, material, and capacity, and features a classic paddle-style magazine release catch located in front of the trigger guard. Other than that, the only other controls are the trigger, a cross-bolt safety, and a forward-mounted charging handle.
Both the safety and the charging handle are reversible upon field-strip, making the Br47 Dissent completely ambidextrous. The rifle comes with a single-stage CMMG ZEROED drop-in trigger, designed and manufactured in collaboration with RISE Armament, offering a 1,8/2 kg (4/4.5 lbs) pull, short reset, and anti-walk pins.
The upper and lower receivers are held together by AR-15 type captive pins, making field-stripping for cleaning and maintenance easy for those who are already familiar with America's quintessential "black rifle".
Also featured is a free-float machined aircraft-grade aluminum alloy handguard, with M-LOK slots at 3, 6, and 9-o'clock position. No sights are provided from factory: a full-length top MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail provides plenty of room for the user's choice of aftermarket optics or iron sights.
The new CMMG Br47 Dissent semi-automatic rifle is available in three variants: a 408 mm / 16.1" barrel version with a CMMG proprietary flash hider mounted on a 5/8x24 thread at the muzzle; a non threaded 16.1" barrel version, incapable of mounting any muzzle accessory; and a 363 mm / 14.3" barrel version with a shorter handguard and a pinned and welded flash hider.
All variants feature an adjustable gas valve and a full Cerakote finish available in black, charcoal green, coyote tan, Midnight bronze, Sniper grey, titanium grey and tungsten grey. Each sample comes issued from factory with two five- or ten-rounds MagPul PMAG AK/AKM magazines.
MSRP for the CMMG Br47 Dissent semi-automatic rifle on the US market is set at $1,999.95 for all versions. International customers should contact the company for information regarding their closest CMMG distributor.
