Sabatti Urban Sniper rifle
Now equipped with the sturdy 3 tenons Blizzard action, the Sabatti Urban Sniper bolt-action rifle offers even more all-purpose versatility and performance
The Sabatti Urban Sniper bolt-action rifle is a versatile shooting machine, light and and easy to handle, conceived and manufactured as an all-rounder platform that would offer accuracy and performance without being hindered by excessive weight or length, excelling both in sport shooting as well as a Police patrol or tactical rifle.
The Sabatti Urban Sniper rifle is built around a synthetic stock, manufactured out of Nylon with a 30% fiberglass addition to increase its rigidity and its vibration absorption capability.
The flat lower portion of the handguard makes for a great support surface when firing from a rest or an improvised stand-off, while the vertical pistol grip – connected to the buttstock by two struts, providing a visually appealing and user-friendly quasi-Thumbhole look and feel – makes the Urban Sniper easy to handle and fast to bring on-target at the range, on the hunting fields, or in a tactical situation.
The stock is provided by a fully adjustable cheek riser, while under the forehand the Urban Sniper rifle is factory-fitted with a Picatinny rail segment allowing the mounting of a bipod. The stock of the Urban Sniper rifle also features both standard sling attachment points and QD sling swivel cups.
The Sabatti Urban Sniper rifle feeds through Accuracy International AICS compatible detachable magazines. The magazine release lever is conveniently located under the trigger guard, allowing the shooter to instinctively perform a reload without taking eyes off target.
New for 2021, the Urban Sniper bolt-action rifle features the well-known Blizzard action – Sabatti’s best to date, known worldwide for its performance on tactical and sporting long-range rifles such as the company’s own Tactical EVO.
Hosted in a fully CNC-machined steel receiver and featuring an oversized tactical knob that’s screwed on to the cocking handle via a 5/16” thread and can thus be easily replaced with other aftermarket knobs.
The bolt body is fully fluted, making the action more fluid, given anyway the fact that a 3 lugs bolt will always be less soft to handle in respect of a 2 lugs action.
A standard, two lever trigger comes pre-set from factory to approximately 1,1 kg (2.42 lbs) of weight.
The Sabatti trigger group features improved machining that insures consistency in tolerances, sear engagement with surfaces designed to insure a glass rod trigger with a very short take-up, without any grittiness or overtravel.
A 13-slot MILSTD 1913 Picatinny rail provides a ready-to-go mounting surface for optical sights.
The cylindrical steel barrel of the Urban Sniper rifle sports Sabatti’s own, proprietary Multi-Radial Rifling (MRR) pattern, a Sabatti exclusive that earned the Company international praise due to its high accuracy, low bullet deformation factor, and ease of cleaning.
The new Tactical Muzzle Brake is installed from factory on a 5/8”x24 muzzle thread and is easily replaced with other muzzle devices such as flash hiders or silencers.
Available in two barrel lengths (20” or 24”), the Sabatti Urban Sniper strikes a perfect balance between overall size and optimal ballistics on mid-raange shooting. All barrels are fluted to reduce overall weight and increase cooling.
The Sabatti Urban Sniper is a very accurate, reliable shooting instrument that synthesizes the best qualities of a modern target and tactical rifle in a simple but effective package.
The three-tenon bolt is even oversized for the typical uses of a rifle of this kind, and compared to a two-tenon it is a little harder to operate: something absolutely normal and accepted by anyone shooting just at the range, but less welcome in those shooting situations where rapid repetition of the shot is necessary, such as hunting.
Anyhow, apart from the (relative) hardness of the bolt, the accuracy of the weapon is unquestionable and with the right ammunition, achieving Sub-MOA groups is routine.
Looking at its characteristics, with a three-tenons bolt, Sabatti barrel with MRR rifling and standard muzzle brake, thumbhole stock made of excellent material and two Picatinny rails supplied, what we haave here is one of the most competitive rifles on the market today, also thanks to a very attractive price. You may like it or not, but it is certainly worth it.
If not for the fact that Sabatti actions are not compatible with any aftermarket stock, the Urban Sniper would be a perfect rifle to use for playing, configuring it with the many accessories that the aftermarket today also offers for bolt-action rifles.
If I really had to find any negative points in this excellent rifle, it could be in the lack of short 18" or 16" barrels, which are very popular in the US and some other countries.
But also, in a rifle of this type, the lack of chambering for the ubiquitous and universal .223 Remington / 5.56 NATO: after all, in a weapon called “Urban Sniper”, this would have been a logic choice, being the .223 probably the most popular rifle ammunition in our shooting world.
