First announced last December and now on display at the 2018 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, the Ruger Security-9 is a hammer-fired, semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9mm Luger and utilizing a 15-round, double-stack magazine.

Small and light enough to be easily concealed and comfortably carried, the Security-9 strikes the perfect balance between a compact and full-size pistol offering twice the capacity of slimmer 9mm Luger handguns.

Some of the features of the Ruger Security-9 include an easy-to-rack slide; a short and crisp trigger pull; eye-catching sights; and an ergonomic, textured grip frame manufactured out of high-performance glass-filled Nylon, with an integral accessory rail.

The Security-9 is constructed around a rigid, one-piece, precision-machined, aluminum chassis with full-length guide rails, and a blued, through-hardened alloy steel slide and barrel. The Secure Action used in the Ruger Security-9 is the same used in Ruger's own, popular LCP II pocket pistol, combining a smooth trigger pull and a short, crisp feel and positive reset.

Safety features include a bladed trigger safety, external manual safety, neutrally balanced sear with significant engagement and strong spring tension, and a hammer catch to help prevent the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled.

The new Security-9 features a 4” barrel and weighs just 23.7 ounces (671,8 grams) with an empty magazine. It ships with two double-stack alloy steel magazines and a cable locking device. The price point has been set at a very competitive $379.00 in the United States; no word yet on export availability and pricing, but it should not price too high on foreign markets either.
