Smith & Wesson Model 1917 and Model 22 Classic revolvers
Smith & Wesson announces the Model 1917 Classic and Model 22 Classic N-Frame revolvers, perfect reproductions of the most iconic large-frame service revolvers in the Company's history
New for late 2026, Smith & Wesson announces the release of two classic revolvers: the Model 1917 Classic and Model 22 Classic.
Drawing inspiration from two of the most iconic large-frame revolvers in company history, these new offerings combine period-correct styling and heritage-driven features with the quality and reliability expected from a modern Smith & Wesson revolver.
Built on blued steel N-Frame frames, the new Model 1917 Classic and Model 22 Classic revolvers by Smith & Wesson retain the original chambering – .45 ACP for the Model 1917 Classic, .45 ACP and .45 Colt for the Model 22 Classic – and retain signature features of the originals such as smooth walnut grips, moon-clip cut cylinders, and lanyard loops.
Designed for collectors, military history enthusiasts, and revolver purists, the Smith & Wesson Model 1917 Classic and Model 22 Classic revolvers capture the spirit and appearance of the originals while delivering the performance standard of today’s manufacturing process, honoring their heritage without lacking the practical shootability that modern-day enthusiasts demand.

The Model 1917 Classic recreates one of the most historic military handguns ever produced by Smith & Wesson. From its 5.5" carbon-steel, 1:16" twist rate barrel to its SA/DA operation with no internal lock system, every detail pays tribute to the original while delivering the craftsmanship, reliability, and durability expected from a modern Smith & Wesson revolver.
Compatible with both original-style half-moon clips and modern full-moon clip designs, the new Model 1917 Classic revolver provides flexibility while honoring the revolver’s military roots; and its authentic half-moon front sight reproduces the original sight profile that defined the M1917 silhouette, maintaining the look and feel of the historical classic.
