Smith & Wesson introduces the M&P9 M2.0 Compact Optics Ready pistol
Smith & Wesson's new M&P9 M2.0 Compact Optics Ready pistol – available with raised sights and an optics-ready slide with enlarged forward serrations – fully aligns with current market trends for concealed carry and service-oriented red dot sight ready handguns
New for September 2020, Smith & Wesson announces the expansion of its improved M&P M2.0 line of pistols, now to include an optics-ready variant – the M&P9 M2.0 Compact 4" OR.
Building on the award-winning M&P9 M2.0 Compact pistol series, new model launches as the the use of optics on handguns – particularly micro red dot or reflex sights – has become increasingly popular in the past couple of years, with handgun owners looking for ways to enhance their shooting experience and proficiency especially when it comes to with compact, concealed carry models for service or personal defense.
The M&P9 M2.0 Compact now meets the market trend with its factory optics-ready slide, cut for optics and issued with seven mounting plates designed to fit many of the most popular reflex sights currently available on the handgun optics market.
Enlarged forward serrations are provided to ease slide handling with an installed sight, while a set of raised white-dot front and rear sights will easily co-witness with optical sights and provide a viable backup should the optics fail.
And all this, the new Smith & Wesson M&P9 M2.0 Compact 4" OR does while remaining acceptably lightweight at 25.8 oz (731,4 grams).
Standing at 7.3" / 18,54 cm of overall length, the Smith & Wesson M&P9 M2.0 Compact OR pistol features a 4-inch (10,2 cm) long barrel with a 1:10" precision twist rate that's manufactured out of the same Armornite-finished stainless steel used for the construction of the slide.
The polymer frame features a MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail for tactical accessories and an aggressively-textured grip; four interchangeable palmswell inserts are issued with each pistol, for optimal hand-fit and trigger reach.
The Smith & Wesson M&P9 M2.0 Compact 4" OR pistol feeds through double-stack metal magazines, offering a 15 rounds capacity in 9mm Luger – an industry standard for service and defense pistols. Two magazines come issued from factory with each gun. A variant is also available with an ambidextrous frame-mounted, thumb-actuated safety; a version for law enforcement sales only comes with Tritium sights in lieu of the standard white-dot sights.
The MSRP on the M&P9 M2.0 Compact OR pistols is $616 in the United States; no information concerning availability and pricing on the export market has been made available so far.
