High ergonomics: Walther PDP F-Series pistols
Walther's PDP F-Series line of semi-automatic pistols, available in two barrel lengths, offer redesigned ergonomics for easier, better handling by women or other small-handed shooters, while retaining all the features that make the Performance Duty Pistol series so popular
New for 2023 in Europe, and first announced in the US in the Summer of 2022, the Walther PDP F-Series semi-automatic 9mm Luger striker-fired pistol is a variant of the PDP ("Performance Duty Pistol") series of service and defense semi-automatic, striker-fired, polymer frame handguns that replaced the P99 and PPQ.
The "F" in "F-Series" stands for "Female", and as it suggests, the PDP F-Series – available in 82 mm / 3.5" and 109 mm / 4" barrel versions – are mainly targeted at female shooters or otherwise younger, smaller-built shooters who may find the handling of the baseline PDP variants uncomfortable.
Compared to the baseline PDP, Walther's new F-Series PDP pistols offer enhanced ergonomics, thanks to a reduced grip circumference and a shorter trigger reach, without giving up on the Performance Duty Texture that makes the grip of the PDP series pistols so comfortable and secure at the same time.
Walther's PDP F-Series pistols otherwise retain the same features that made the Performance Duty Pistol line so popular, including a polygon-rifled barrel, a polymer frame with a MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail for accessories and a striker-fired operation with a crisp, 2,5 kg / 5.5 lbs. Performance Duty Trigger. A loaded chamber indicator, an automatic disconnector and automatic trigger and striker safeties make the Walther PDP F-Series pistols superbly safe.
Other features of the Walther PDP F-Series pistols include a 20% reduction in slide force for lighter racking, and a set of front and rear SuperTerrain Serrations that protrude on the slide in a unique way for quicker and more responsive hands-on engagement and a new, more positive feel to operating the action.
The PDP F-Series pistols also come with a fixed front post white-dot sight and a polymer two-dots rear sight that's adjustable for both windage and elevation. The slide is also optics-ready, allowing the use of most micro red dot sights via dedicated mounting plates.
The Walther PDP F-Series pistol is also left-hand-friendly from factory, featuring an ambidextrous slide stop, ambidextrous P99-style disassembly block located over the trigger guard, and a reversible magazine release catch.
The PDP F-Series pistols feed through the same double-stack magazines used by the PDP Compact model, offering a basic capacity of 15 rounds in 9mm Luger. Thanks to the uniquely shaped grip, none of the PDP F-Series pistols ever exceeds 136 mm / 5.3" in height and 34 mm / 1.33" in width.
The features of the Walther PDP F-Series make this pistol so woman-friendly that it has been named the "2023 NRA Women Handgun of the Year".
The 3.5" barrel version of the Walther PDP F-Series stands at 17,2 cm / 6.77" in overall length and weighs in at barely 660 grams (1.45 lbs) when empty. The 4" barrel version is 18,4 cm / 7.24" long overall and is only slightly heavier at 680 grams (1.49) when empty.
Distribution of the Walther PDP F-Series pistols on most markets will begin in the month of April, 2023. For detailed informations concerning availability and pricing of the Walther PDP F-Series pistols in your Country, consult your closest Walther dealer or importer.
