As of late, micro-compact pistols designed for deep-concealed carry and personal protection seem to make up for the bulk of whatever new the global civilian firearms industry has to offer; but then again, the most demanding market in the world for firearms is the American one, and concealed carry pistols are what the US market demand.

Case in point, not only does the new Heckler & Koch CC9 9mm Luger semi-automatic pistol fully meet the trend, being the smallest defensive pistol ever offered under HK's brand, but is also the first to be entirely manufactured in HK-USA's plant in Columbus (Georgia), rather than being imported or locally essembled from German-made components.

Manufactured to the same standards as HK's full-size duty pistols – up to, and including, the NATO Army Armaments Group AC/225 standards – the CC9 is only the first in a long line of handguns and long guns that HK-USA plans to manufacture locally for the US civilian market, in order to avoid the increasingly restrictive red tape imposed to the export of hunting, sporting, and defensive firearms by the German Federal government, whose anti-gun tendencies are now basically out of control.

HK-USA's CC9 pistol features a striker-fired, pre-cocked trigger, with a "Glock-style" trigger safety, and is built around a black reinforced polymer frame with checkered slip-proof contact surfaces, a MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail for accessories integral to the dust cover, and a fully factory ambidextrous magazine catch and slide stop.

With its full 4-finger grip and the same length of pull as the full-sized VP9/SFP9, the CC9 stays on target when it matters most. Additionally, the CC9 comes with interchangeable grip backstraps, and feeds through double-stack metal magazines with a polymer floorplate, holding ten or twelve rounds.

Finally, the metal chassis system embedded in the polymer frame, hosting the trigger group, is rated for +P ammunition, allowing the use of all the most effective service and defensive loads.

The HK-USA CC9 comes with a 8,4 cm / 3.32" long, cold-hammer forged barrel manufactured out of cannon-grade steel; the slide features front and rear serrations, a solid set of high-visibility tritium sight, and a micro red-dot sights interface compatible with any MRDS available on the market fitting the Shield RSMc or Holosun 407k footprint.

Both the barrel and slide feature a full diamond-like coating (DLC) to extend their service life, reduce the wear and tear, fight off corrosion and smoothen the running and operation of all components.

Built to perform flawlessly in the most demanding conditions, offering the reliability and durability standards that users have come to expect from Heckler & Koch, the CC9 had over 750 thousand rounds fired during development and testing.

Standing at 153,1 mm / 6.03" in overall length and weighing in at barely 521 grams (18.4 oz) when empty and without a magazine, the new HK-USA CC9 micro-compact pistol is sold on the US market at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $699.00. No information concerning international export availability or pricing outside of the United States has been released as of yet.
