Cabot Guns expands the OAK (One-of-A-Kind) collection of 1911-type pistols with the announcement of the new Aphrodite and Leviathan models, built out of wrought Damascus
The OAK (One-of-A-Kind) collection of pistols represents the most unique, sought-after, and highly priced line of products offered by the Cabot Guns company – which, in and by itself, is already famous worldwide for its vast catalog of exclusive 1911-type pistols offering masterpiece-tier manufacturing and aesthetics while remaining perfectly capable of world record level performance, so much so that Cabot Guns shooters Brian Zins and Jon Shue went on to win the Camp Perry NRA National Pistol Championship in 2012 and 2013, and in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
All the pistols in the Cabot Guns OAK collection are indeed “One of a kind”: while other Cabot Guns 1911 handguns may be rare, the OAK pistols are really unique, representing Cabot’s most exclusive bespoke 1911 offerings. Both models are manufactured vastly out of wrought, hand-forged Damascus steel provided by 87-years-old artist and master blacksmith Robert Eggerling. It took eighteen months to the master gunsmiths at Cabot Guns to unveil the potential and beauty of Eggerling’s Damascus through the finishing process, highlighting its wispy hairlike structures and refining its elegance and beauty into two unique works of true gunsmithing.
The Cabot Guns Aphrodite .45 ACP semi-automatic pistol is named after the Greek goddess of beauty and love, also worshiped by the Romans as Venus, and the white veneer on the deep blue Damascus slide and grip – in stark contrast with the bright white frame, trigger, hammer, 5-inch barrel, and bushing – is meant to reminisce of the legend of Aphrodite’s birth from the sea waves of Cyprus.
The Cabot Guns Aphrodite will be provided in a custom, hand-built wood case manufactured by master box maker Steven A. Parker. Museum-grade Spalted Curly Maple with Claro Walnut edging was selected for the exterior. The interiors continue the use of Maple Burl with Claro Walnut edging and Quilted Maple blocks the grasp the Aphrodite pistol with a Cabot-designed Freedom Fit, which allows the full beauty of this Cabot masterpieces to be seen in all its glory for generations.
The Cabot Guns Leviathan .45 ACP semi-automatic pistol is instead a reminder of the mythos of the legendary Leviathan, a creature of pure chaos who dwelt at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea, striking fear in the hearts of seafarers as it sunk countless ships. The serpentine pattern of the blue veneer on the dark grey grips and trigger is highlighted by the shiny dark grey frame; the Damascus steel slide is embellished by a scaly, iridescent pattern and features utilizing two golden rack-assist discs and a matching gold-dot front sight.
The Cabot Guns Leviathan is provided in a custom-crafted case, manufactured in Italy out of wood and alligator hide which, in itself, provides an ancestral connection to the great beast who ruled the oceans, unchallenged, for millennia.
The sale of the Cabot Guns Aphrodite and Leviathan pistols is pending through the company. Potential customers should inquire about the availability and price of these two one of a kind handguns by contacting Cabot Guns directly. Those pistols are not for everybody – particularly not financially for everybody – but the lucky ones who’ll bring them home shall know that they’re not buying mere fancy guns, but true works of art that will last, and be admired, for centuries to come.
